Eriff
Holly Powers
Mel Hocking
for fans of… Bon Iver, Jacob Alon, Phosphorescent, Iron & Wine

August 6th, 2025

Eriff’s aching and meditative songs drift to us from the Galloway hills. Worth repeat plays, these evocative vignettes are at once simple and expansive, each containing its own emotive world. For fans of… Bon Iver, Jacob Alon, Phosphorescent, Iron & Wine.

Holly Powers weaves a hypnotic, melodic, indie folk sound inspired by Jose Gonzalez, Laura Marling and Nick Drake. For fans of… Admiral Fallow, Nick Drake, Sufjan Stevens and Damien Jurado.

Having made the decision to quit her corporate job in London to focus on music back home in Scotland, singer songwriter Mel Hocking is pouring her heart into her upcoming EP. Mel’s pop-folk tracks transform the highs and lows of early adult life into heartfelt songs through catchy melodies and raw, relatable lyrics.

Shinlifter
The Chunks

August 1st, 2025

August’s Fuzz Bat show sees a return to Cowgate and Sneaky Pete’s for a fantastic double bill of Shuffly moon rock spider jams from Shinlifter and Sophisti Skronk/Fuzzy Indie Rock from The Chunks.

The bands will be playing a handful of shows together that week as part of a Summer tour. Running order will be announced on the day of the gig.

Shinlifter were formed in late 2023 in Edinburgh, Scotland, by immigrant settlers from England, Ireland and Bathgate. They are the world’s first budgetgroup (like a supergroup but cheaper and held together with duct tape) because they’ve all played in other bands (Nice Church, Unwave, Those Unfortunates) and vocalist Olivia Furey’s set at Tectonics Festival has been on BBC Radio 3 once (her performance has been described by musicologist, Adrian Habgood Rose, as “excrement in sound form”). Their debut double A-side, Percolator/Nandos (out now on PX4M), highlights the band’s strengths: hypnotic drumming bolted to vocalist Furey’s stream-of-consciousness collages of mundanity and guitar freak-outs.

The Chunks are an indie rock band based in Edinburgh. Fuzzy and skronky sounds do the tango with pop melodies and syncopated grooves. Psychedelic breakdowns meet catchy choruses which turn into prog inspired solos. Unique and playful bass guitar is woven with intricate drum beats, and cut through by hard hitting vocals and a myriad of synth textures. The Chunks deliver humble, high energy sets with passion and a party atmosphere. The band’s most recent release ‘Digital Dust’ is out now on Fuzz Bat Records and sees the group continue to push their sound with some of their most Chunky moments yet, with strong melodic hooks throughout.
