Athens of the North is excited to welcome our good friend, sometime collaborator and rather good selector Miche to join us at the Disco Club for the start of the festival
Expect Mad Brazilian, floaty modern soul and disco.
A DJ and curator with a deep love for all things soulful and dancefloor-ready, miche has quietly become one of London’s most trusted selectors. At 31, he’s released three volumes of his With Love compilation series on Mr Bongo and runs three reissue labels—Celestial Echo, PANORAMA, and DAYBREAKERS – each uncovering forgotten gems from the worlds of soul, jazz, funk, and house.
From all-night sets in Beijing, Paris, and Istanbul to his “Root Down With Love” takeover at We Out Here Festival alongside Rainer Trüby, Jeremy Underground, and Danilo Plessow, miche brings curiosity and care to every corner of his musical life. His eclectic DJ sets and compilations reflect a love for Brazilian MPB, deep house, rare modern soul, and dusty jazz-funk – always guided by emotional depth and storytelling.
Raised in Bournemouth on a diet of Kerri Chandler and Atjazz, miche cut his teeth playing marathon sets in East London. He’s held a show on Worldwide FM and continues to explore the global soul underground – digging deep, connecting dots, and creating moments that resonate far beyond the dancefloor. In the spirit of Louis Armstrong he says: “There are two kinds of music—the good and the bad. I play the good kind.”

Snarling vocals over feral guitar riffs, backed by pounding drums and bass – Scottish garage punk three-piece Casual Drag have earned a reputation as a must-see live band through a series of packed and frenetic shows across the UK.
Their debut EP ‘Revolution Will Eat Itself’ landed in 2023 and immediately gained wider attention. It’s a body of work that encapsulates their raucous live shows. There is a drive and energy embedded within their music, raw and edgy with twisted riffs and crashing drums.
Singles ‘Bleach Head’ and ‘Something Good’ were championed by BBC Introducing, BBC6 Music and Amazing Radio.
Their standout brand of clattering garage-rock has led to support slots with Joe Talbot of IDLES, Lice, Flat Worms, Hotel Lux and Press Club.
Following the release of their EP and a series of singles, the trio are working on their debut album. New music and UK dates to follow in Autumn 2025.
