Hectors // Gareth Sommerville (AOTN) and handmade

November 3rd, 2018

“Another year has (somehow) passed and it’s nearly time for our annual post-Halloween shindig at Sneakys which also acts as our final party of the year at the venue.

So far this year we’ve welcomed Hometown Promotions (CHAS Fundraiser), seventyseven, Eyeangle Records, and ALL GOOD Dundee to our bimonthly residency at the 100 capacity sweatbox. Each crew has more than brought the party, playing alongside our honorary ressie, Edinburgh Don Gareth Sommerville.

This weekend we’re changing things up a little and are getting some brand new talent involved in the party. We were recently sent a mix by a new local-trio, handmade, consisting of Euan Redpath, Coll Reekie, and Lewis Ross. It’s, perhaps, the vibsiest track selection of any mix we’ve been sent out the blue in some time so we immediately knew we had to get the gents involved and this weekend is the perfect opportunity.”

Night Music:
Sam Gellaitry

November 2nd, 2018

Hailing from Stirling but internationally known, Sam plays absolutely enormous festivals in the States, Oz and beyond. He first grabbed attention with tracks on the Soulection imprint that launched Kaytranda and Goldlink, before signing to XL Recordings (home of MIA, Tyler The Creator and the xx). Despite flitting between styles, his love of hip-hop, jazz and trap permeates all of his creations, whether he’s making woozy house, wonky bass-heaters or ambient mind-openers.

Bloxx

November 1st, 2018

“Crisp, infectious, totally contagious indie pop songs” – Clash
“Bloxx might be your new favourite band” – The Line Of Best Fit

One of our favourite bands from The Great Escape this year where they played to huge elated crowd.

2017 was a terrific year for the red-hot Uxbridge based Bloxx – who arrived ferociously at the tail-end of the summer, with boundless energy and a fresh new charge of grunge-pop that the world was very ready for. Debut offerings ‘Your Boyfriend’ and the Radio 1 playlisted ‘You’ were swiftly followed up with an Annie Mac championed second double A-Side ‘Coke’ / ‘Curtains’ whilst the band toured relentlessly – supporting Sundara Karma, The Wombats, INHEAVEN up and down the country.

This year, they’re armed with more music, more touring and even more determination to conquer the world. The new single ‘Novocain’ is another very impressive step forward- once again demonstrating how good they are. It’s ragged and raw, but loaded with perfect pop hooks that stay with you for days – and that’s exactly why Bloxx are so alarmingly infectious; and with the boundless energy to match, there is no stopping them as they continue to ascend.
