Glamour & The Baybes’ Funkoween 2018

October 31st, 2018

The UK’s most energetic funk band, Glamour & The Baybes, are bringing the funk to Edinburgh with ripping horns, massive vocals and the hottest halloween party to end all parties!

Come in costume to get 50% off your ticket!

Support comes from The Hoistey Boys.

Glamour & The Baybes
The Edinburgh based 6-piece funk outfit have been residents at The Jazz Bar for the past 8 years and show no signs of stopping. These unlikely lads have weaved a horn-soaked love letter to all things funk & neo-soul with their latest EP Baybealicious.
What if George Clinton grew up with DragonBall Z? Find out with SUPER SAYIN.
Do you have an unquenchable love for the actor Terry Crews? Have it sated with TIGHT TERRY.
A horn-heavy diss track for Justin Bieber? Introducing TAKING IT BACK.

Individually and together Glamour & The Baybes have toured the world screaming alongside some of the industry’s most recognised names, such as John Legend, Matt Schofield, Thumpasaurus and Snarky Puppy.

The Hoistey Boys
Little to nothing is known about these people other than the fact that they have a penchant for 1990’s WWF wrestler, The Model, Rick Martel. Purportedly an Edinburgh rock band, no one has actually seen them up close. From their debut album, aptly named Night Custard, it sounds like there’s a singer, two guitars, bass and drums, but not necessarily in that order. The Hoistey Boys, should they appear, promise nothing.

Eleanor Friedberger + Jennifer Castle

October 30th, 2018

“Deliciously droll electro-pop” – The Guardian

‘Rebound’, Eleanor’s fourth solo album since her graduation from The Fiery Furnaces, may well be her best.

Pitchfork calls it “her swing to another, more daring, form of songwriting… a spooky, dancey vibe, lacing its gentle psychedelia with a dash of foreboding”.

Eleanor played for us back in 2013 and it was a truly special show, so we are absolutely delighted to have her back at Sneaky Pete’s.

Follow our Future Gigs playlist on Spotify for a regularly updated selection of all the best live music coming to the club.

Lionoil: Pellegrino & Andrea Montalto

October 26th, 2018

Napoli meets Sicily as two good southern Italian dons link up on neutral ground!

Pellegrino is the multifarious organiser behind Early Sounds, label and distribution home to Nu Guinea, Mystic Jungle and The Normalmen, and passionately dedicated to pushing their proud Neapolitan balearic heritage to a global audience.

Similarly passionate about Southern Mediterranean music is our very own Sicilian Andrea Montalto, undoubtedly one of Edinburgh’s most cherished and versatile DJs – and make no mistake, that’s no throwaway platitude. A founder of fledgling Edinburgh radio station EH-FM (along with Percy Main)

This pairing really is a match made in heaven. Pizza meets Arancini, Pino Daniele meets Mario d’Episcopo, Etna meets Vesuvius (terrifying) – Pellegrino meets Andrea.

Antidote Booking Showcase
Crystal, Lafayette Regency, Atlas Run

October 26th, 2018

CRYSTAL: Having previously featured on Tony Visconti’s Unsigned Hero’s as well as being selected by Frank Carter to play Sailor Jerry’s Open House, the band made an unforgettable impact at Wide Days 2018 where they were chosen to showcase at a sold-out La Belle Angele in Edinburgh alongside some of Scotland’s hottest new talent such as LUCIA and Rascalton.

Sultry and brazen; grungy and infectious; CRYSTAL’s potential knows no bounds with new material expected to be unleashed in the near future. With a fiery passion and unique chemistry that translates perfectly from the studio into live performance, the four-piece have a hugely exciting summer ahead of them with a number of shows lined up at Electric Fields, Kelburn Garden Party, Twisterella and many more.

LAFAYETTE REGENCY: As they used to spend too many electric nights wandering boulevard Lafayette in Clermont-Ferrand (known as the French capital of rock’n’roll) JP, Arthur and Clément founded Lafayette Regency, with the same will to bring their french touch overseas. The sound of former Heming Wave has become louder, the (forbidden) fruit of a night of passion between Dead Weather and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, possessed by the spirit of The Verve.

The French Rockers come to Scotland for the first time presenting their “Story of Helen (the Rise and Fall of an Impossible Love)”

ATLAS RUN: The band started 2018 with a bang by being selected to perform at the King Tuts New Year’s Revolution to an energetic and packed crowd. They continued that trend by performing at the Motherwell Makes Music Festival and the Music Moments Festival in Spring 2018. With more festival dates to follow in the coming months. The band were also chosen by Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes to perform at the Wrap Party of the Sailor Jerry Open House in Glasgow.

Their first single of the 2018 was the indie sing-along track ‘Losing Touch’. It gathered positive reviews from Jim Gellatly and was chosen as ‘Track of the Week’ for BBC Alba. Their newest single ‘Choices’ released in July 2018 and is making steady strides into becoming another standout song for the band. Make sure to catch Atlas Run live as they bring their fantastic energy to their shows, with a mix of soaring guitar riffs, heartfelt melodies and infectious sing-along choruses.
