Soul Jam: Cameron Mason

December 17th, 2019

Soul Jam turns 10 years old! That’s 520 Tuesdays, 2,200 hours of dancing, at least 1200 Jägerbombs, 26,000 songs (lots of Teddy Pendergrass) and plenty of difficult Wednesdays.

To celebrate, we’re inviting some of our friends to take us all the way up to NYE, which will be the LAST EVER Soul Jam on a Tuesday, after which we are excited to be taking up a coveted monthly weekend slot at Sneaks.

For the penultimate Tuesday Soul Jam, it is only apt that we welcome back former resident, formerly known as Cam Mason. Having migrated across the road to helm Soulsville at the Bongo, in his absence, Cameron’s multitudinous collection of rare groove 45s has been augmented with some serious up-front heat. We can’t wait to get (some of) the band back together once more.

Quiet Houses

December 16th, 2019

Quiet Houses are a Manchester based indie-folk duo made up of Hannah Elliott (vocals, violin, keyboards) and Jamie Stewart (guitar, vocals). After forming in early 2018, the pair started writing songs rooted in the wistful folk sound-world of Laura Marling and Fleet Foxes and the quirky lyricism of indie songwriters Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile.

For their first Edinburgh headline they’ll perform with Kieran Murphy (drums), James Cooke (guitar), Jacob Bentley (bass) and Karl Ziegler (keys).

December 14th, 2019

Frankly, The Smiths are a Scottish Smiths tribute act. The band have been together a short time, but have established themselves as Scotland’s premier tribute to The Smiths, playing regular shows across the country. The four piece delve deep into the indie legends’ back catalogue, performing lengthy shows that are sure to please both the casual and devoted fan. The band have gained a dedicated following, all of whom agree that this is the only tribute act to see for the ultimate Smiths experience.
