MARGINS: Angel D’lite

March 24th, 2022

MARGINS is a new club night created by, and for, people from marginalised communities within Edinburgh. This is a space where people can get together, dance, and feel safe and accepted – no matter their race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religion.

At MARGINS, what matters is that you treat others with respect, love and kindness; to allow us all to rave and misbehave in a community of acceptance.

Angel D’lite’s high-octane DJ sets are as sweet and colourful as the classic dessert of the same name. A committed crate digger, Angel D’lite mines classic rave, breakbeat and hardcore records and combines them with pop classics in fresh and unexpected ways, using an internal guidance system “powered by tiramisu, shell suit static and the gyrations of Jimmy Somerville’s hips”.

HVSK + Bütter + Kryss Talmeth Experience

March 23rd, 2022

Forming in summer of 2018, hvsk (husk) are an alternative pop/rock trio from Perth, Scotland. They mix a wide range of influences and tastes, ranging from classic musicians and bands like Jeff Buckley or Led Zeppelin to modern pop or rock artists like The 1975 or Peace to into what is their own unique sound, one that has received praise and generated excitement in peers all through the Scottish Music scene. Just over a year after their formation and hvsk released their debut EP Descending which has had a fairly positive reception, having worked with and recorded with Stephen A. Watkins (better known as the SAW in MixedbySaw) in his experimental pop-up recording studio in a church in the Scottish borders , they spent hours crafting their sound to match the one in their imagination. Mere months after Descending’s release, the Perthshire trio found themselves returning to the Church to set up a second recording session, hoping to recapture the ‘Lightning in a bottle’ feeling they found the first time. ‘Surreal’ released in summer 2020, and many feel they have exceeded their expectations. From their first show in The Green Room in Perth, to gracing the prestigious stage at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, hvsk have begun to build a solid and loyal fanbase. A fanbase they hope can stick with them on their musical journey and enjoy every stop along the way.

Heal Yourself & Move

March 19th, 2022

Following a brief hiatus HYAM are proud to announce their latest edition, with a special live performance from one of Edinburgh’s most prolific yet shadowy music makers: being.

Human of many monikers, under this particular alias he released several solid & sought after EPs for Andrew Weatherall’s Special Emissions imprint in the mid ‘90s; put out the tremendous ‘Tides’ LP on The Spacefrogs label; collaborated with the likes of Claude Young, among others; and provided Firecracker Recordings with their final release just last year – the sprawling ‘Broxburn Funk’ LP, a collection of lysergic machine soul culled from endless hours of cassette recordings.

Be sure to get down early doors to experience full sonic immersion, travelling through all tempos, with your spirit guides Other Lands & House Of Traps providing back up on the ones and twos either side of the live proceedings.
