Central Belters 2022
Surya Sen
Pearling
Psweatpants
Postponed
for fans of… DJ BORING, Kerri Chandler, Ross From Friends

August 5th, 2022

Hailed as ‘one to watch’ by The Guardian, North London’s Surya Sen is somewhat of a radical presence in UK music, producing tracks that perfectly balance hip-hop and house whilst touching base with French touch, slick garage and boom-bap. Energetic and highly-animated, Surya Sen is guaranteed to bring a memorable show to the Sneaks sweatbox!

Rapper and songwriter Psweatpants also joins the bill. Well known within the Edinburgh and Glasgow underground alt hip hop scene, Psweatpants presents hard vocals and well-crafted delivery taking inspiration from artists such as Slowthai, Skepta, Tyler the Creator and Vince Staples.

Plus we’ve got Pearling! Pearling is a self taught electronic producer and songwriter from Glasgow, honing her ethereal sound from her passion for shoegaze music combined with her love of dance music. Although she only began producing over lockdown, Pearling has been performing across Glasgow since re-openings and has had airplay on BBC Introducing Dance by Jaguar on Radio 1 with her alt-pop anthem, “Demiurge”. Pearling aims to create atmospheric, other-worldly soundscapes that still capture the catchy, fun and exciting essence of pop music.

Central Belters 2022
Quiet Houses
Eve Simpson
Cyrano
for fans of… Lizzie McAlpine, Laura Marling, Holly Humberstone

August 4th, 2022

Quiet Houses are an indie-folk duo made up of Edinburgh-bred, Manchester-based Jamie Stewart and Hannah Elliott. In December 2021 the duo released their debut EP ‘Big Town’ supported by singles ‘B-List’ (BBC Radio Scotland track of the week), ‘Cold Water Swimming’ (featured in Spotify’s ‘The Most Beautiful Songs In The World’) and ‘Ocean Avenue’.
The duo are inspired by the indie-folk world of Phoebe Bridgers, Adrianne Lenker and Bon Iver, and the indie-pop likes of Alvvays, Babygirl and Hovvdy. Following sold out launch parties both here at Sneaks and in Manchester for their independent release of ‘Big Town’ we welcome them back as part of our Central Belters season.

Also on the bill is the wonderful Eve Simpson! Inspired by the greats Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, Eve uses honest and heartfelt songwriting to navigate just about everything. Receiving regular airplay and frequent support from BBC Introducing, Eve is also a representative for The Ivors Academy – we can’t wait for her debut gig at Sneaks!

Heaters // Haptic vs GRDN

August 3rd, 2022

We are buzzed beyond belief to be joined in Sneaks next month by our sworn enemies Releaf & Goodsport of Edinburgh based GRDN collective.

GRDN have made a name for themselves in the last year throwing parties in unique, intimate locations and are a hugely talented group of selectors with their roots in myriad styles from garage, grime and house to reggaeton and 160+ nonsense.

Expect an exciting, anything-goes music policy and big smiles ear to ear when they do battle with us on the 3rd!

PLASMAS + POLLY + Magpie Blue

July 31st, 2022

Effortlessly flowing among a myriad of musical influences – from the dreaminess of Tame Impala to the vulnerability of The Cure – PLASMAS are one of Scotland’s most exciting dream-pop prospects. With shimmering dream-pop melodies matched to an innate sense of grit, their DIY approach lets the band set the agenda.

“Laden with a kind of sighing melancholy, ‘Is It Everything You Want?’ sounds like those imperial pop moments from The Cure matched to B-Town outfits such as Swim Deep or JAWS” – CLASH Magazine
