sold out The Lounge Society
Humour
for fans of… Goat Girl, Do Nothing, Yard Act

September 27th, 2022

“The Lounge Society have something undeniably, potentially game-changingly special within them. A genuine fire which feels absent from the guitar music coming from London’s rock scene. The Lounge Society may be a generational talent.” – Loud and Quiet

Plying their own distinct breed of art-punk – taking in fleet-footed guitar and drum motifs, bite-and-bark vocals and popping electronics – Speedy Wunderground’s The Lounge Society have made quite the reputation for themselves in their short time together. After releasing their debut EP Silk For The Starving to universal acclaim in 2021 (“The Lounge Society are assuredly blazing their own path” – NME) the band toured extensively throughout the UK last Autumn, performing sold-out, enthralling headline shows across the country, before taking their first steps onto European festival stages. This autumn, they hit the road again, playing shows that include their biggest Manchester headline so far at Gorilla, and London’s Village Underground, before capping things off with a special homecoming show at The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge. Their highly anticipated debut album is in the works with producer Dan Carey (Fontaines D.C., Kae Tempest, Squid, Grimes) again at the helm.

MARGINS:
Sita Shah
Petfood
Digging The Underground

September 22nd, 2022

After our sold out first party back in March, MARGINS is back this September for another night of big dance moves and heavy tracks!!

Headlining the night is Sita Shah – a member of the London based, South Asian collective ‘Daytimers’ as well as ‘Sisu crew’ (a community for female and non binary DJs and producers). She’s known for pushing boundaries in her mixes as she combines hard techno tracks with South Asian sounds and bouncy bootlegs. Already big in the scene down South after playing nights in both London and New York, we can’t wait to have her high octane sounds reverb through Cowgate!

On support duty we’ve got local talent Petfood who co-founded the party Revolt! – a club night based in Summerhall that aims to celebrate queer artistry. Expect Petfood to warm up the sweat box with an eclectic mix of experimental sounds and hypnotic techno.

And finally, if you’re down early you’ll catch Lola and Raph bouncing around behind the decks. The local duo’s love for all things breaks, jungle and bass can be heard on their monthly radio show Digging The Underground on EHFM and in their sets down Cowgate supported the likes of Breaka and Bakey and Jyoty.

MARGINS is a club night created by, and for, people from marginalised communities within Edinburgh. This is a space where people can get together, dance, and feel safe and accepted – no matter their race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religion.

At MARGINS, what matters is that you treat others with respect, love and kindness; to allow us all to rave and misbehave in a community of acceptance.

The New Routines
Velvet
Coward

September 22nd, 2022

The New Routines are a 4 piece alternative band from Aberdeen, Scotland. Drawing inspiration from The Strokes, Interpol and American Football, the band are focused on writing music tailored to live shows.

Forming mid-2018, The New Routines wasted no time getting their first EP recorded and sent off to as many promoters as possible, landing their first gig late that year.

2019 was a huge year for the band with constant shows in their home town. Consistent appearances on live bills gained the band recognition from different promoters across Scotland which lead to their first tour at the end of the year.

The New Routines made their Spotify debut in early 2020, after self-producing their self titled single which included the raw and energetic track ‘Omission’. During lockdown, the band had been sitting on the release of their second self produced single ‘It’s Been a Minute’ which came out during the middle of the pandemic.

In late 2020, with no solid defined date for the return of live music, the band channeled their creative energy into their proudest single to date. ‘Garden State’ is The New Routines’ defining track and a favourite to play at gigs.

The New Routines made their post-lockdown return headlining Tunnels, Aberdeen on August 14th 2021, playing to their largest live audience ever. Riding off their return to the stage, the band have released their debut album on April 22nd 2022 featuring 9 original songs recorded over 2 years.

Staying in Place – out now.
