STAGG
Woodwife
Catherine Rudie
Chris Brambley

September 19th, 2022

ALT-folk artist, STAGG, plays his Edinburgh debut as part of his Tour of Scotland this September.

For a few special tour dates, STAGG has joined forces with support from some of the most intriguing and powerful performers in Scottish Alt-folk, Woodwife, Catherine Rudie and Chris Brambley. Expect everything from fragile folk to full-on tempest.

STAGG’s music holds its roots in Scottish traditional music firmly at its heart while wandering freely through influences of years of traveling the world with music as his guide. He’s most known for his innovative use of the accordion, which he combines with distinct and evocative vocals into a unique brand of folk-pop-fusion that’s never been heard before. His songs about nature, long-distance love and philosophies for the future are both timeless and pertinent.

“It is a rare and beautiful thing when a musician surprises you… an artist utterly in tune with their instrument, unafraid to find new ground, and, most importantly, with something to say to the world.” Martin Green of British folk supergroup, Lau.

BABii
Pholo
Dahlia
for fans of… Shygirl, PinkPantheress, Doss

September 17th, 2022

Electronic pop adventurer BABii is one of the most imaginative and immersive new voices in the UK music underground.

Widely supported by The Observer, Resident Advisor, i-D, BBC6 Music, BBC Radio 1 among others, BABii’s sophomore LP MiiRROR is an aesthetic and sonic exploration of opposites; where 808 bass booms sit beneath delicate, celestial chords and lyrics about shadows pirouette around glimpses of light. Audio samples move forwards, then in reverse, woven seamlessly into the fabric of Warne’s pristine production.

A conceptual artist both sonically and visually, BABii’s unique and instantly recognisable, mellifluous and nymph-like vocals blended with ethereal, textured and challenging productions have gained her a loyal following of fans. Music has always been a mirror for BABii. She hopes this album can do the same for you.

Blood Wizard
Auld Spells
ur.frnd
for fans of… Kurt Vile, Cate Le Bon

September 14th, 2022

Blood Wizard sits between the worlds of art, punk and folk. Influenced by the likes of Cate Le Bon and Arthur Russel, Blood Wizard was born out of a fascination with folk-lore and a desire to challenge their creative limits as a writer. “There’s almost something to live up to with the name Blood Wizard. You can’t have this name and not make eccentric music. It almost forces you to be Avant Garde.”

An act that straddles genres to create a sound uniquely their own, Blood Wizard’s brand of ‘Wonky Folk’ blends components of classic folk with this aforementioned avant garde to create an environment to which their distinctive character can wander freely. Drawing similarities to the narrative led by murmurings of Kurt Vile as well as the unpredictability of Crack Cloud, it’s less about fitting in for Burns and more about developing a world, where the mystique and sheer eccentricity of Blood Wizard can be fully let loose.
