September 30th, 2022
Midnight Ambulance are an alternative rock duo from Scotland.
This year, they were shortlisted for BBC Introducing’s Scottish Act of the Year. Since the start of 2021, they have released three studio singles — ‘Black Gloves’, ‘5 AM’ and ‘Rust’ — which quickly gained the attention of national media. Features include: Apple Music ‘New in Rock’ playlist; BBC 6 Music Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing Mixtape; BBC Radio Scotland (Vic Galloway & BBC Introducing); BBC Alba (Single of the Week); Amazing Radio (Jim Gellatly & Charlie Ashcroft) and The Scotsman on Sunday (Artist of the Week), which included a live performance on the Scotsman on Sunday’s award-winning ‘Scotsman Sessions’.
“Dark, powerful and mysterious.” Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
“Ominous, looming and with a real sense of menace, the duo conjure a unique atmosphere with Amelia’s heartfelt vocal and pounding drums front and centre, elegantly accompanied by Fraser’s playing and production. This is a serious opening salvo and promises greatness in whatever they do next. As a listener, I am excited and slightly scared!!” Vic Galloway, BBC Radio Scotland.
“Judging from the sheer quality of their first two releases, Midnight Ambulance are an exciting addition to Scotland’s music scene and we can’t wait to see what comes next.” Suzanne Oswald, Tenement TV

Jockstrap
Baby Morocco
at The Mash House
for fans of… Aphex Twin, black midi, Caroline Polachek
September 29th, 2022
Georgia Ellery and electronic producer Taylor Skye formed Jockstrap, with an intentionally crude name in stark contrast to their strange but sophisticated sounds. Ellery’s diaphanous songwriting and gentle vocals are disrupted by Skye’s harsh, unpredictable production. After releasing a handful of music independently, Jockstrap signed on with Warp (home of Aphex Twin) for the release of their 2020 EP Wicked City, which they toured on a series of sold out shows up and down the UK.
FUR
Dutch Criminal Record at The Mash House
for fans of… The Smiths, The Kinks
September 27th, 2022
Unexpected viral stars FUR are “getting that balance where it doesn’t sound like a band from the ‘60s, it sounds like if a ’60s band were doing something modern. For some reason, even when we’d only written two songs, we already knew what FUR sounded like.” Without a label or famous friends, they’ve racked up millions of streams just by taking the age old love song and reinvigorating it, earning them critical plaudits from tastemakers such as Steve Lamacq and surprise fan Hugh Jackman. Their last show here sold out and since then they have supported Miles Kane and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.
sold out The Lounge Society
Humour
for fans of… Goat Girl, Do Nothing, Yard Act
September 27th, 2022
“The Lounge Society have something undeniably, potentially game-changingly special within them. A genuine fire which feels absent from the guitar music coming from London’s rock scene. The Lounge Society may be a generational talent.” – Loud and Quiet
Plying their own distinct breed of art-punk – taking in fleet-footed guitar and drum motifs, bite-and-bark vocals and popping electronics – Speedy Wunderground’s The Lounge Society have made quite the reputation for themselves in their short time together. After releasing their debut EP Silk For The Starving to universal acclaim in 2021 (“The Lounge Society are assuredly blazing their own path” – NME) the band toured extensively throughout the UK last Autumn, performing sold-out, enthralling headline shows across the country, before taking their first steps onto European festival stages. This autumn, they hit the road again, playing shows that include their biggest Manchester headline so far at Gorilla, and London’s Village Underground, before capping things off with a special homecoming show at The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge. Their highly anticipated debut album is in the works with producer Dan Carey (Fontaines D.C., Kae Tempest, Squid, Grimes) again at the helm.

The New Routines

September 22nd, 2022
The New Routines are a 4 piece alternative band from Aberdeen, Scotland. Drawing inspiration from The Strokes, Interpol and American Football, the band are focused on writing music tailored to live shows.
Forming mid-2018, The New Routines wasted no time getting their first EP recorded and sent off to as many promoters as possible, landing their first gig late that year.
2019 was a huge year for the band with constant shows in their home town. Consistent appearances on live bills gained the band recognition from different promoters across Scotland which lead to their first tour at the end of the year.
The New Routines made their Spotify debut in early 2020, after self-producing their self titled single which included the raw and energetic track ‘Omission’. During lockdown, the band had been sitting on the release of their second self produced single ‘It’s Been a Minute’ which came out during the middle of the pandemic.
In late 2020, with no solid defined date for the return of live music, the band channeled their creative energy into their proudest single to date. ‘Garden State’ is The New Routines’ defining track and a favourite to play at gigs.
The New Routines made their post-lockdown return headlining Tunnels, Aberdeen on August 14th 2021, playing to their largest live audience ever. Riding off their return to the stage, the band have released their debut album on April 22nd 2022 featuring 9 original songs recorded over 2 years.

Courting
Happy 2000
September 20th, 2022
When the moon and stars collided in 1953, something beautiful was born. It remained unbeknown to the general public until Courting formed, to shower the earth with their special brand of “music”. In 2020, after their ship was wrecked just off the coast of the Florida Keys, they found it within themselves to create a landmark piece of art. A piece of art so timeless, that they’ve been filling stadiums ever since. Indebted to their years of military training (and lessons in longform free-jazz), their debut EP Grand National is out April 9th
