UNGDOMSKULEN + THE GOTHENBURG ADDRESS + WON MISSISSIPPI

June 21st, 2009

Hailing from Norway comes Ungdomskulen, the greatest rock power-trio known to man. They are experimental, energetic and burst like a paintball in the face of the devil.

Their super-sonic songs stretch and twist into 8-minute catchy epics, like twinkling stars on a acid-laced sky, that grooves you to laughter, and makes your mouth dry.

Ungdomskulen just released their sophomore LP titled Bisexual via Ungdomskulen/Artspages.

Probably one of the most important and best new (ish) bands of 2009. Having impressed at this years SXSW, UNGDOMSKULEN embark on only a handle of UK dates in June to further enhance their ever growing reputation.

From Bergen, Norway – UNGDOMSKULEN play SNEAKY PETES on JUNE 21st.

***Tickets are on sale now from ticketweb.co.uk and in person from Ripping and Sneaky Petes bar***

Wasabi Disco feat. XVECTORS live

June 20th, 2009

Having long been one of this city’s best live acts, XVectors have been through a massive creative burst of late. Formerly known as a guitar band that played dance music, as much influenced by Chicago house as the Stooges, now they’re truly crossed the divide into an electronic group with next-level songwriting abilities. With a new album just about in the bag, and Klaxons tour support in the recent past, they’ll be playing new material that puts peers like Empire of the Sun and The Juan Maclean in the shade.

Meursault + Yahweh

June 20th, 2009

Perhaps Edinburgh’s most exciting act at the moment, Meursault are on the cusp of something big. Neil Pennycook’s inimatable vocals soar over a backdrop of banjo, bleeping laptops, live percussion and harmonium. Constant reworking and rearranging of their material has kept every show fresh.

This is the latest in a series of shows that have each sold out, so early attendance is advised.

THE LEG – Album Launch

June 18th, 2009

Sneaky Pete’s are very proud to host THE LEG’s album launch for SL Records.

Treading the most singular of paths, they could be described as a carnivalesque acoustic hardcore, or a kind of heartbroken punk rock.

Comprised of cello, percussion and acoustic guitar, but with half a junkshop full of other sonic tricks up their sleeves, The Leg really have no comparable peers on these shores.
