The TELESCOPES 

Stephen Lawrie of the Telescopes enlists the help of St Deluxe once 

again to create another fantastic night of “stunning, a cataclysm of noise” – 

The Scotsman once again following their joint performance in April of this year. 

Both the Glasgow (Sat 15th Aug @ The Captains Rest) and Edinburgh (Monday 17th Aug @ Sneaky Pete’s)performances will be based on the 

“Taste” era cuts and will take off where the last gig ended, in hysteria and a crowd thirsty for more of the same. 

Recent re-releases of the Telescopes back catalogue have delighted old fans, and captured a fresh audience since the second wave of “nu-gaze” bands and the return to the fold of such bands as My Bloody Valentine, Spectrum etc. The NME even acknowledges “the genus of the Telescopes”. 

Together with St Deluxe backing Stephen for a full electric set there should be more than just a reprise of the “truly stunning two-song encore with 

Glasgow’s St Deluxe acting as backing band”. –The List 

This is a very special performance which should not be missed especially if the last one is anything to go by.

THE LOST BROTHERS

The lost brothers are an irish duo hailing from the mountains of omagh and a mining town called navan.

Sitting in a dark, smoke filled pub somewhere in the middle of nowhere I start to learn exactly who the brothers are. Mark Mccausland and Oisin Leech tell me that they aren’t actually brothers at all but from the way they talk about their music and the dreams they both have, they may as well be. Mark grew up in a travelling family band- the moore band, and oisin grew up in the local dance hall. Having no fixed abode, their only home is their next gig.

Perhaps separated at birth musically and with a long musical history behind both of them in the form of The Basement and the 747s, Mark and Oisin become more mesmerising as the minutes go by…

We talk about how they met…with no expectations for what journey they are about to embark on except pure love for the instruments they play, for the songs they write, for the lyrics they sing.

 Beautiful heart felt folk from XL Recordings latest signing BLUE ROSES.

Yorkshire is full of towns where nothing much happens, or so they’d have you believe.  Laura Groves either didn’t hear, didn’t believe or simply knew better and on the Edge of Seventeen began writing songs. She took guidance from influences that spanned genres and generations, from Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell to Debussey and Stravinsky. 

 With an old family piano, a borrowed guitar and thinking of all the records she loved, she dreamt of producing an album that would be treasured. An album to be  loved by someone else. An album to inspire someone in the same way these artists  had inspired her. She thought of lyrics that broke her heart, phrasing that made it race and with composers cradling her aspirations she put her heart to tape.

UNTITLED (#2):

At our second Untitled we will be celebrating the opening night of the Fringe Festival, so that means Sneaky’s will be open till 5am!! That’s a whole lot of party, and all for free! It’s also our first proper night with loud music! We enjoyed being a jukebox in a pub, but now it’s time to really get down to business and start the club proper.
