Having only formed in the Spring of 2008, it’s been a meteoric DIY rise for young hotly tipped Staten Island four-piece Cymbals Eat Guitars. July saw their inaugural visit to the UK, as they played a handful of sold out shows including headlining a ‘Rough Trade presents’ night at The ICA and one of the hottest and loudest gigs ever played at the Windmill, Brixton (where the band were met by hardcore fans who had travelled all the way down from Scotland to see them).

Now, Cymbals Eat Guitars release their critically acclaimed debut album Why There Are Mountains in the UK on October 26^th through Memphis Industries (home to The Go! Team, Field Music, Tokyo Police Club amongst others) who snapped the band up having seen the aforementioned July gigs.

teenagersintokyo hail from Sydney, where their mix of grunge, goth and disco has earned them a fearsome reputation, playing sell out shows with !!!, CSS, The Slits, Midnight Juggernauts and the Gossip amongst others.

Last year they released their self-titled EP on Back Yard Recordings, the label responsible for finding internationally acclaimed bands Chromeo and Gossip. It was championed by Zane Lowe and the NME (who called it “peculiar and lovely”) and sold out in both Australia and the UK.

Now they’ve relocated to London and have been holed away in the Welsh mountains with Bat for Lashes producer David Kosten to record their highly anticipated, upcoming album, to be released in early 2010. But you won’t have to wait until then to hear the first fruits of that union –the double A side single ‘Isabella/ Long Walk Home’ is out on 5th October on ltd edition 7″ vinyl and digital download.

FAKE been raising the roof in sneaky’s long enough to know how it’s done right. Among the first to book Kissy Sell Out and Hostage, their bookings are worth trusting. Just now they sound like this…

Japandroids (aka JPNDRDS) is a two piece band from Vancouver, BC. 1 guitar, 1 set of drums, and 2 vocalizers. They call it garage rock. They don’t care what you call it, as long as it’s not minimal. Japandroids are maximal – a two piece band trying to sound like a five piece band. Supporting Japandroids gets you into Heaven – no questions asked.

Super Adventure Club rock/jazz/pop out in a very crazy way. The List described their debut album, Chalk Horror, as a ‘an unpredictable, genre-busting stream of off-kilter noise-terrorism’, The Skinny desribed them as ‘inventive brilliance’.

Bronto Skylift make an awful lot of noise; but in a very good way. According to The Skinny ‘they will set your face on fire.’

Dandy Riots (previously named Get Messy) run COME, an interactive night where they and their cohorts play music, perform, project visuals and create dancefloor DJ installations for the audience to interact with.

The Chapman Family are a moody sounding, indie 4 piece from Stockton. New single “Virgins” is a mix between Idlewild, Joy Division and White Lies. Sure to have a great 2010. Finishing 2009 with a massive headline UK tour that takes in Sneaky Petes on November 12th.

Watching Shutter live can only be described as a unique experience. Guitarists Matt Campbell & Pete Macdonald fluidly work together (a sign of years of playing together) playing riffs that jump between the most melodic and heavy music you will ever hear. 
Backed by the solid bass and the innovative drumming of brothers James and Will Roberts gives Shutter an almost dance music like groove which has made them accessible to the many people in the Scotland looking for something different.

Coming straight outta Paris, alongside production partner Bulldog, KAZEY has set the standard for the new wave of Baltimore club producers and electronic twiddlers. Rocking parties, clubs and mix tapes since the beginning of the 90’s, Kazey has become one of the most in demand DJs to ride the wave of the explosion of the get down-low-and-dumb b-more club music that has taken the world by storm.

Kazey and Bulldog are currently basking in the glory of their “Dirty Wheels EP” on Dress 2 Sweat – the best club record you’ll hear this side of Baltimore. The lead track “Big Truck” has already been licensed to DJ Craze’s “Fabric mix” CD, and has been played out heavily by the likes of Sinden, Scottie B and Tittsworth, who describes the limited edition picture disc as “absolutely bullet proof from beginning to end”. Recent remixes have served to solidify their reputation with requests from some of the hippest labels about to work their make over magic. French electro heavyweights Arcade Mode and Institubes have both seen fit to enlist his production and remix skills and as his profile continues to rise we will see and hear more and more of the fruits of his studio sessions in the coming months. To add to all this, Kazey is a member of the Clark Magazine team, organizing parties, editing the fashion pages and directing the art of the first Clark Magazine compilation – Juice!
