Glasgow songwriter Pearl is on her way international success, a real star in the making. Her soft and sweet vocal has tickled the right ears – her beautiful song “Because I Do” is the soundtrack to a Vodaphone advert and she’s even recently supported Elton John.

Eagleowl will play to a packed crowd at The Bowery, launching their new single, and then it’s all down to Sneaky’s. Eagleowl will be amongst the DJs, as well as Ed Stack (tentracks), Matthew (songbytoad.com), HP (freshair.org.uk) and Bargain Harold (This Is Music / Sick Note).

TWEAK BIRD are back!

A huge rolling tumble of Melvins’-out skuzz-blues sound. They’ve been touring with Big Business and more recently TOOL and are right about as good as that would suggest. Good and noisy even. With good songs. And big guitars and stuff. Here’s a nice You Tube clip of them being right noisy in Las Vegas (in front of a newborn baby).

Oxjam Edinburgh 2009 was a music festival with a difference. The Oxjam Takeover in October had a highly successful series of events and in a belated follow on to these we present a night of emotive, ambient music against the chaos of the Christmas period.

Presenting Light Guides:  “an organic three piece hailing from Glasgow, Scotland. Their musical signature comprises a blend of delicate guitars and creative percussion, which unsuspectingly unfolds into a wall of sound combined with melodic accented vocals.”

And introducing Your Neighbour, The Liar:  “An emotive, rock quartet from Edinburgh, catchy hooks and singalong melodies, in the vein of Stapleton”

CATHERINE FEENEY recently moved to Portland, Oregon. When not touring, she indulges a newfound passion for growing vegetables. She enjoys performing in intimate venues, and in 2008 drove 12,000 miles with her husband-to-be in a 1990 Mazda 323 called Swansong playing more than 40 planned and impromptu shows in dens, living rooms and gardens all over the United States. Her favorite feeling is that of the universal commune that comes when writing a song entirely by intuition.

Previous to arriving in Portland, Catherine lived for several years in Norfolk, England, releasing her second album to critical acclaim.

Stuff Weezer and Eels and Phoenix and a Kitsuné compilation into some very bright wooly sweaters, then add Monotonix riffs and general hairiness, and you have Parisian alt-pop badasses Naive New Beaters. In some ways they are the band The Teenagers should have been. This should be a big big party show.
