Daniel, Fred, And Julie is a very special collaboration between three much loved musicians. Daniel Romano sings and plays guitar in Attack in Black. Calm Down It’s Monday’s Fred Squire sang and played guitar in legendary indie-rock group Shotgun and Jaybird, and is a jack-of-all-trades and master of some in the Julie Doiron band. And Julie Doiron is the legendary songwriter, singer, guitar shredder, collaborator with Mount Eerie, Gord Downie, Herman Dune, Wooden Stars, and member of Eric’s Trip. But this is a record unlike any previously heard from these fine and versatile musicians.

A record of Folk Music, three part harmonies, guitar picking and strumming. Songs of romance, justice, murder, loafing, and complaint, horses and gambling. Old songs, in the public domain. Public songs for singing together. Daniel, Fred, And Julie also features two new compositions by Dan: Runner, and the lamenting and beautiful Your Love.

With instrumentation entirely made up of two guitars and three-part harmonies, the ten-song collection was recorded live-to-tape without the luxury of overdubs or edits, and it was all done in just two days. As well as folk standards, the album contains two original songs: “Runner” and “Your Love,” both written by Romano.

Eighteen-year-old Rachel Sermanni hails from the small Highland village of Carrbridge, on the edge of the Cairngorms. She has quickly become unavoidable through 2010 due to an exceptionally busy touring and recording schedule that has seen her hand-picked by Ben Lovett from Mumford & Sons to appear on the Communion Compilation; deliver stand-out sets at GoNorth, Rockness, Wickerman, Belladrum, GreenMan and Loopallu festivals; secured support slots with, amongst others, KT Tunstall, Stornoway and British Sea Power; and seen the excellent ‘My Friend Fire’ selected as track of the month in the Scotsman.

Her song-writing is breathtakingly beautiful and displays a sophisticated maturity of craft and talent, which belies her years; she seamlessly combines traditional and contemporary elements into a refreshingly original sound which is compelling, striking, phrased with poetry and peppered with thought provoking ambiguities, which, whilst immediate and accessible, remain inventive and hard to tie-down.

Rachel is set to embark on her first headline tour this November and early 2011 will see the release of her debut EP.

The Remnant Kings are teaming up with a wide variety of musicians to form a make-shift orchestra, including keyboard, tin whistle, violin, harmonica and trombone.

Despite their drummer, Kit, being away on holiday The Remnant Kings didn’t want to turn down the invitation to perform at the launch night of their management company, Ginger Music Promotions, at Electric Circus in September, and so chose to rework some of their …songs into an acoustic set, and invited Garry Hall and Alex Targowski from folk band Gallus, and long-time collaborator Fraser Yuill Scott, formerly of Yuill Scott and The Haight, currently of The Psycho Hearts, to perform with them.

The band were so pleased with the way the songs sounded with the additional instrumentation, that they have decided to take it to the next level, and invite even more musicians to join in on their Sneaky Pete’s headline show on Sun 21st Nov.

The show will include support from Sebastian Dangerfield, who recently supported We Were Promised Jetpacks; and Leith-based gypsy punks Emelle. The night is being promoted by edRock.net Events, and sponsored by Bainbridge Music and Great Junction Street Music Studios.
