Johnny Brown

January 24th, 2019

At just 18, Cockenzie’s Johnny Brown is already a prolific songwriter, penning his first song at just 13. he has gigged in and around Edinburgh from a young age. In recent months, he has supported Kyle Falconer of the View, Adam Ficek of the Babyshambles and Sergeant.

Johnny made it to the Regional finals in Manchester for Teen Star 2015. Johnny has been privileged to be mentored by Edinburgh based musician and music producer David Whitmey over the last year and together they have produced his debut single called “Give Back the Sun”, a poignant reminder of the devastation of drug addiction.

Johnny will also release Brooklyn, a hauntingly beautiful song that reaches incredible vocal pitches. Johnny has a unique and very distinctive vibrato voice with powerful falsetto. Johnny Brown is definitely one to watch

The Howl & The Hum

January 22nd, 2019

The Howl & The Hum are a miserable disco who write Bond themes for films where Jimmy is still hung up on that girl. They combine dark hypnotic pop with post-punk influences, pierced with lyrics that make you call your mum the next morning.

Following acclaimed sets at Neighbourhood Festival and Loopallu and a debut tour of the Scottish Highlands in 2017, the York-based 4-piece embarked on their first headline tour in England in early 2018 to coincide with the release of new single ‘Portrait I’. Following this the band are releasing a series of new songs leading up to their first festival season featuring appearances at Latitude, The Great Escape, Live at Leeds, Standon Calling and the BBC Biggest Weekend.

“expansive indie songwriting that nods towards Massive Attack or Portishead.” – Clash Magazine
