The Octo Trax beast is often hard to capture, shifting between parties, studio sessions and country wide guest slots like a sonic phantasm. After locking down the group for their debut tape release party last year, we know to expect another gratifying musical escapade this time round. Lets dance!

Poolside Records is now up and running, which means it’s time for our first party. In July, we will have the pleasure of bringing REES to the capital for his Scottish debut. With his trademark House and Disco style, there was only one answer to who we wanted to kick off our party series.

The Paradiso Records founder is definitely one to watch in 2019 and beyond. With a an already impressive CV featuring a steady stream of releases on labels like Midnight Riot Records and Wavy Recordings to name a few.

His production efforts have seen him land bookings up and down the country, alongside the likes of Adryiano, Paul Woolford and Mall Grab / Jordon Alexander. REES has also began cutting his teeth in Europe, with a recent stormer of a set on Red Light Radio. One things for certain, you’re in safe hands with this man in the booth.

Psyche and post-punk sit deep in the Brazilian musical psyche. You may have seen Boogarins support Tune-Yards on tour last year where they came across as a freakier Tame Impala.

Their brilliant new LP ‘Sombrou Du?vida’ does not dispel the impression that these are some very avid psyche ad- venturers. Boogarins are thrillingly “other”, but they certainly know their way around a tune, and they are pin-prick funky too.

The use of a large, tuned live room at Austin’s Space Recording Studio allowed Boogarins to include the bold sound of their live performances — heavy rock guitar from Benke Ferraz (also in the producer role) colliding with experimental synth noise and bass undercurrents from Raphael Vaz, all driven by the incredibly dynamic and effulgent drums of Ynaia? Benthroldo.

Once again Ryan Fyvie returns to grace us with some quality music. Taking us on a journey through the best in house and techno.

Ryan is behind the decks playing the music that he loves, holding down residencies at both of Edinburgh’s leading underground music venues Cabaret Voltaire (Underground Society) and 99 Hanover Street (Nine Nine Music Club).
