Formerly known as Fudge Fingas, and sometimes called Gavin; Other Lands is a purveyor of quality productions, captivating DJ sets and most likely your new favourite record. This round, he’s on sabbatical from the Firecracker Recordings crew to bring the party (and a synth) to our midweek haven – this will get deep!

Domiciles

November 13th, 2019

Having recently released their debut album This Is Not a Zen Garden to rave reviews and launched with a SOLD OUT show at The Old Hairdressers in Glasgow, Domiciles bring their meditative genre-defying live show to Sneaky Pete’s on 13h November. Come along, get voided.

BIO:

Based around the joint songwriting of Nick & Rory, Domiciles draw from a myriad of different influences; hints of krautrock & shoegaze permeate their music, whilst also touching on sneering garage, blissed-out space rock & experimental noise. Dark & heavy psychedelic grooves are interspersed with jarring guitar leads, droning feedback & sharp synthesisers; resulting in genre-defying multi-dimensional compositions. In 2018, the band signed with Glasgow-based record label Last Night From Glasgow. The bands debut album ‘This Is Not a Zen Garden’ a work of passion and years of work was released August 2019. The self produced album was recorded in the secluded Scottish Highlands and was launched with a sold out Glasgow show. The album has been well received by both press and public with positive features from national publications such as Louder than War Magazine, The Skinny and Scotland on Sunday. The band continue to go from strength to strength.

Beats provided by Exiled From Culture & visuals throughout the night. Support TBA (but we know you’re going to dig them).

Groovelabs ft NNMC – BacktoBack Social

November 11th, 2019

Since the launch of our monthly residency in September, we have already managed to raise £795 for charity over 2 near sellout nights. We want to keep that momentum going for this next one, supporting Back to Back! If you have never heard of them, have a read:

“We use DJing as a vehicle for positive change, addressing the complex issue of mental health that surrounds homelessness. This comes in the form of dj tuition courses, dj performances and events. We raise awareness of our work at each event, whilst putting someone who has experienced what it is like to be invisible, on stage and into the dj booth. Directly changing how the audience and society as a whole perceives homelessness.”

And if that isn’t enough reason to get yourself out on a school night, we have a tasty lineup of local talent to keep you on your toes:

?11:00 – 00:00 ~ Oscar James, the Groovers frontman takes the reigns to shake everyone a little loose.
?00:00 – 01:30 ~ Chris Boyle & Boy North Music go b2b for some fiery bangers and deep rollers.
?01:30 – 03:00 ~ The Nine Nine Music Club, lovechild of Ryan Fyvie and Thomas Stevenson, close off the night with their unique sound and unparalleled groove.

Entry is a £4 minimum donation, feel free to donate more, it all helps, we’re all in this together ?

Cocaine Piss + Not Robots?

November 11th, 2019

You can’t start a band called Cocaine Piss and be serious at the same time, can you? It would be the equivalent of naming your kid something like Kick Me In The Head Throughout Life Whenever Possible Smith.

But ever since coming into twisted existence in 2014 in the Belgian city of Liège, pretty much as a bad taste joke, Cocaine Piss just revved the engine of the piss rocket and watched it launch, and before they knew it, it was flying sky-high.

Cocaine Piss are a chaotic mess with their high octane blend of punk and noise that’s all over within 20/25 minutes. It’s like Dead Kennedys, Bikini Kill and Melt Banana all playing at once while really high on their namesake substance, right up until the venue cuts the power and everything’s suddenly over, leaving you euphoric, disoriented and punching walls just for fun.

Wild doesn’t even begin to cut it with this band, we’re so excited to have them here ever since they melted our faces off at The Great Escape.

SOLD OUT: Shambolics

November 10th, 2019

Already hailed by label owner and mentor Alan McGee as “one of the great Scottish bands”, Shambolics are a fervently ambitious outfit from Scotland ready to take on the world. A far cry from the rag-tag chaos their name would perhaps imply, Shambolics have a knack for artfully honed and irresistibly dreamy rock’n’roll that calls to mind the indelible sounds of the genre’s lauded masters, from The La’s Official to The Beatles.

Breaking out of the Fife scene and quickly accruing a burgeoning and passionately devoted fanbase across wider Scotland, the band scooped the 2017 SAMA Award for ‘Best Rock/Alternative Act’ and have continued on an upwards trajectory ever since. From earning critical acclaim from press tastemakers including BBC Radio Scotland (Vic Galloway), This Feeling, Radio X, Virgin Radio UK (Edith Bowman) & Fred Perry Subculture, to sharing huge stages with the likes of The Sherlocks & The View performing at some of the UK’s biggest festivals including Isle of Wight Festival, Tramlines and Reading Festival & Leeds Festival; Shambolics glitter with all the hallmarks of a band destined for greatness.

With the rumours from the underground growing ever louder to a soundtrack of languid, reverb-washed singles with melodies each more timeless than the last; it was surely only matter of time before word of the Shambolics became music to the ears to one of Glasgow’s most musically in-tune sons: Alan McGee. With an irrefutable ear for talent, McGee (who famously signed classic acts the likes of Oasis, Primal Scream, The Jesus And Mary Chain to his Creation Records label), it wasn’t long before McGee snapped up the band for his label.

Speaking about what attracted him to signing the band to Creation23, McGee says: ‘Scottish indie music is having a renaissance at the moment and I was so glad I came up to Edinburgh to see the Shambolics live. After I saw them I just had to sign them. One of the best Scottish artists out there. A classic creation band. Big tunes and they look great!’

A meeting of minds that matches one of Scotland’s greatest musical business heads with one of its most promising emerging talents, this is a signing Shambolic in name only
