Yussef Dayes at Summerhall

November 9th, 2021

South East London Drummer and producer extraordinaire Yussef Dayes has announced a headline tour this autumn.  The Yussef Dayes Experience will encompass dates across the UK alongside a handful of European shows and festivals,  beginning on October 6th.  Joined by long-time collaborators Rocco Palladino and Charly Stacey,  the band will be performing some of the bigger moments of Yussef’s back catalogue alongside new, unheard music.  Expect a few special surprise guests to join along the way too. ?

Alongside bringing together Rocco Palladino and Charlie Stacey for Yussef Dayes Trio on last year’s “Welcome To The Hills” live album,  Dayes  has collaborated with Louis Vuitton, Versace and supported Kamasi Washington on his 2019 UK tour.   In 2020 he released the critically revered top 5 album “What Kinda Music” with singer and producer Tom Misch, collaborated with Pa Salieu,  played drums on Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos” album and produced “Hate The Club” for Kehlani’s “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t”.

Du Blonde *cancelled*

November 9th, 2021

Du Blonde matches punk, blues, garage rock, and soul with equally cathartic songwriting. Her collaborators include Bad Seed Jim Sclavunos and Future Islands’ Samuel T Herring, and in her other career as a director and animator she’s made videos for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ezra Furman and LUMP.

Erika de Casier

November 8th, 2021

An extra special one this. Born in Portugal to a Belgian mother and Cape Verdean father, music was a refuge and a mirror: “MTV was the only place where I saw other Black people”: Erykah Badu, N.E.R.D., and Destiny’s Child.

Erika’s trademark purr on stunning second album Sensational, nestled within a bed of the featheriest alt-R&B imaginable, makes you move close and pay attention. This gossamer-thin quality makes the record so fantastically off-kilter and incredibly special, but you’ll see at the club that her production works the subs too. This is still a show rooted in dance music, garage, 2-step, grind.

With support from the incredible Alliyah Enyo

POSTAL: Franck All Night Long

November 7th, 2021

Kicking off our new weekly Sunday party, POSTAL invites Edinburgh local and Carouse Records Head Honcho Franck to Sneaky Pete’s.

Franck’s debut EP release with London label Childsplay bagged him a premiere with Mixmag and claimed DJ Mag’s Electro release of the month in their magazine, and his tunes have also been played and enjoyed by SPFDJ, Jensen Interceptor and OTTA. He’s kind of a big deal.

Anyone else really excited?

Gig Hire Info & Agreement

November 7th, 2021

Confirmation of a show at Sneaky Pete’s implies agreement with the terms below. Please confirm receipt of this email when confirming your show.

Hire Fee

Hire is £100 paid on or before the night of the show by cash, transfer, or payment link.

We will send you the payment link when you confirm your booking.

We don’t charge VAT on top.

There may be an additional charge for PRS, explained below.

PRS Charge

‘PRS for Music’ is the name of the collections agency that ensures artists are paid for performances of their compositions (or ‘works’). If any artists performing at your show are registered with PRS then you will need to pay us 4.2% of your ticket sales total figure, which we pass on to PRS, who in turn pay the money out to the artists. If no band performing is registered with PRS then we do not need to charge you for PRS.

Example charge

75 tickets @ £5 each = £375

4.2% of £375 is £15.75

So the PRS due on the show is £15.75

PRS Setlists

We require every band who performs to fill out a PRS Setlist form regardless of whether they are registered with PRS. We will give you blank forms from the bar. This is so PRS can identify whether the artist is registered with them, and what works they performed, so they can be paid for them if there has been a charge. Setlists are really quick and easy to fill out.

You should not pay any of the artists until they have submitted a setlist, as these setlists are really important for us! If we do not receive setlists for all the bands then PRS charge us £15, which we will have to pass on to you. If no artists performing are registered with PRS there will be no fee to pay – but we still need setlists.

Cashier

Please bring someone to work the cash desk for you (or you can do it yourself, it’s easy to do and the stage is not far away).

Cancellations

We require 28 days notice for a cancellation or else the full hire fee is payable. We will not be held financially liable for any cancellation or reschedule costs due to coronavirus-related issues.

Tickets

We can set up online ticketing if you require. If you don’t have an existing account with a ticketing company this is far easier than setting one up, and our booking fees are quite cheap so your customers will pay less. Our ticketing is linked to Songkick etc as well, so fans can automatically be notified of your show that way. We pay you for your ticket sales on the night of your show and provide a list of ticket buyers as well.

Age Restrictions

The venue is 14+, those aged 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult, this applies to performers as well as patrons. You must tell us in advance if there is likely to be over 10% of patrons under 18 years of age. We reserve the right to breathalyse anyone under the age of 18. If they refuse or fail the test, they will not be granted entry.

Ticketing information must state:

“14-17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult. No refunds will be given for incorrectly booked tickets. We reserve the right to breathalyse anyone under the age of 18. Refusal or failure of the test will result in entry being denied”.

Covid policy

Vaccine passports are in effect in Scotland but only for clubnights and events over 500 cap.

It does not apply to our gigs.

Ticketing information must state:

We kindly ask that gig-goers:

  • Take a lateral flow test prior to entering the venue
  • Do not enter if you test positive or have any symptoms.
  • Check in with the venue Test & Protect QR code poster on arrival.
  • Wear a face covering unless drinking, dining or dancing.
  • Wear a face covering when ordering at the bar.
  • Stay in your bubble where possible.
  • Use hand sanitiser and have good hand hygiene.
  • Please be respectful of others and leave space when moving around the venue or queueing.
  • Please don’t high five, handshake or hug staff.

Musicians should also follow the above rules.

Musicians using vocal microphones should bring their own. The venue does not agree to have spare sanitised microphones available.

Advertising

We will list your show at www.sneakypetes.co.uk, where we receive around 4000 hits per month. The more information you give us the more we can put up, and if you send info nice and early then we may be able to add it to magazine listings too. We recommend that you also list your event on Facebook. We don’t need to be a host on the event, you can just send a link to it and we’ll add it to our page.

Illegal Advertising

By agreeing to hire Sneaky Pete’s, promoters also agree not to illegally advertise, whether this be flyposting, chalking, or any other form of graffiti.

Backstage Facilities

Please note that there is no backstage area at the venue. We keep space for Merchandising, and cases etc can be stored here.

Load-in

Is either through the front door, or direct to stage via side fire exit. It’s a very short trip and crew are not required.

Parking

Aside from load-in/out there is no parking outside the venue until 6.30pm. We advise parking nearby on Chambers St after load-in, and then parking outside the venue after 6.30 when soundchecks are complete.

Backline

We do not supply any amps or drums sorry. We can help with hires if you need.

Club Hire Info

November 7th, 2021

Promoter income

Promoters’ income comes from advance tickets, cash payments on the door and card payments on the door. See below for a breakdown of how we deal with each income source here.

Our door staff also work as cashiers so you don’t have to bring one. They check tickets and collect entry fees as cash or card payments.

Advance tickets

We prefer you to sell tickets through our Resident Advisor (RA) account. Just send us the details and we do the work. Having ticket listings all on one site keeps the listings in order and is great for sales. We will pay out for your sales straight away with no deduction, usually the next morning. You can sell up to 120 tickets in advance and we usually have space for more on the door.

Tell us:

  • Event title
  • Lineup
  • Description
  • Promoter name (if you have an RA promoter account)
  • Ticket price(s)
  • Bank acc details to send payment to
  • Send us artwork

Door cash

You can keep all of this. It will be behind the bar for you to collect. Please make sure you take your cash away with you at the end of the night.

Door card

We take 10% of this and pay the rest out to you. We will pay out for door card sales straight away, usually the next morning.

Weekend Flat Hire Fee

We charge £100 if your night is on a Friday or Saturday only. We don’t charge this on Sunday to Thursday, but we do still take the 10% from door card payments.

Ticket prices

On weekdays we prefer tickets from £3-5. ON weekends it’s usually £5-7. If you’re planning to charge more than £5 on a weekday or £7 on a weekend please discuss it with us first.

We are well aware that it can be hard to make finances work in a small venue. We’ve always been supportive of guest costs. Deals can be done event by event. If we are involved in the booking from the start then we are likely to be flexible.

Lighting engineer

Optional. A lighting engineer is available for an extra £80. We have some cool new lights and a lighting desk now. Live lighting can make a big difference to the feel of a night. The lighting engineer would have to fit into the DJ booth so it’s not perfect for everyone especially bigger crews. If you don’t ask for a lighting engineer, the lights are controlled by the bar staff and are mostly left to run, and still look ok. The engineers also have some sound tech knowledge so you’d have some support there too.

Sound Tech

We usually have the following items in stock. DJ equipment needs frequent repairs so it’s worth checking we have what you need ahead of your show:

  • 3 x Pioneer CDJ2000nxs2
  • 2 x Pioneer PCX1000 turntable
  • 1 x Pioneer DJM900nxs2 mixer
  • 1 x Condesa Carmen ISO/EQ rotary mixer

Our PA is a d&b system with Q10 tops and C7 subs with D12 amps. It’s very loud and you shouldn’t go near full volume. Don’t redline! There is no need with this much power in the system, it hurts people’s ears, and tears the speaker cones.

Drinks at the decks

We provide a box for putting your drinks in at the decks. Don’t put them anywhere else and definitely don’t allow any liquid to travel across any equipment. Repairs and replacements are very very expensive for us, and drinks are almost always the culprit.

TIPS!

Optional. We’d really like it if you used some of your door cash to tip the bar staff. You can also tip online: https://tip.wearetipjar.com/p/snkpte

Thank you
