EHFM presents: Lupini + xivro

June 4th, 2022

For June’s dance, we’re delighted to welcome friend of the station, radio fanatic and superlative selector Lupini.

Lupini lives and breathes radio. Whether it’s through her weekly Soup To Nuts show on NTS – a little bit sweet, a little bit sad, a little bit silly – or her previous long-standing role as Station Manager at Liverpool’s Melodic Distraction, she knows more than most the power it has to bring people together and facilitate experimentation. She is also the founder of femme-led party Athe, member of the Heavy Texture deep listening project and has recently performed at the Royal Albert Hall(!)

Lupini’s sets are woozy, grainy, percussive and unpredictable, and we’re mega excited to see the energy she brings to the Sneaky Pete’s sweatbox!

Joining her will be fellow radio-enthusiast and all-round national treasure xivro, who runs a number of shows on EHFM as well as their own club night Club Sylkie, which has hosted the likes of LCY, Diessa and SHERELLE. xivro can turn their hand to anything, so get down early to catch them spin their magic.

Heaters // Haptic: Luke Una (Homoelectric/Worldwide FM/Mr Bongo)

June 1st, 2022

Once in a blue moon a DJ comes around that defies tradition and goes beyond the usual realms of possibility to capture the imagination of the listener and inspire a whole new generation of music lovers. With a career spanning nearly 40 years and a record collection amongst the most diverse and interesting on the planet, Luke Una has achieved near cult status amongst his devoted listeners, with his much lauded sets on Worldwide FM regularly comprising 4 to 6 hour odysseys through his myriad musical passions. There is an underlying feeling that underpins everything Luke plays, regardless or genre, year or tempo – he is a master of telling a story through music and we are brimming with excitement to bring you his musical alchemy in action all night long in our favourite sweatbox.

This will be one of the shows of the year, no question.

Beginning his career as an original Sheffield house young blood in the mid-1980s, Luke’s move to Manchester and partnership with Justin Crawford saw the birth of Electric Chair, a cornerstone cult night in the UK underground club scene, and later Electric Elephant, a Croatian festival paying homage to their wild eclecticism from Balearic to Brazilian to E soul, house, disco and techno. Luke’s much loved, long-running Homoelectric night and more recently Homobloc sell-out festival for 10,000 souls has been at the forefront of Manchester’s LGBTQ cultural landscape. Luke’s current tour which spans several months is in promotion of his new compilation.

“É Soul Cultura”, out now on Mr. Bongo.

DELIGHTS + Special Guests

June 1st, 2022

“delights are coming up milhouse” – Milhouse ? Based in Manchester, 4-piece guitar band Delights formed in 2017 while at sixth form together. Adam Maxwell (Vocals), Ben Kirkland (Bass Guitar) and Ben Squires (Lead Guitar) enlisted Leo Willis (Drums) to complete the bands line-up, releasing their first demos shortly after. 2018 saw the band release a number of singles as they began to attract a growing following to their shows around the country, embarking on several UK tours. Delights continued to release singles and most recently the track ‘Telephone Baby’ in 2021, quickly proving to be one the bands most successful tracks yet. Following a run of packed headline shows including Manchester’s iconic venues Gorilla and The Deaf Institute, they aim to keep pushing themselves both creatively and as a live outfit. ? The band draw their inspirations from an eclectic catalogue of music, influenced both by what their parents played to them growing up and by their own musical discoveries. Merging these influences into a blend of bedroom pop with hints of classic rock found the band quickly picking up praise from multiple outlets. Delights have proven through their extensive back catalogue that they are continually focussed on developing their sound and their craft, and have amassed over 750,000 streams to date, gaining them support from Spotify’s ‘Hot New Bands’ and ‘Fresh Finds’ playlists. Dubbed as “kaleidoscopic guitar janglers”, Delights are ones to watch for the future
