Central Belters
Gretel Hänlyn
gglum
No Windows
for fans of… NewDad, Sharon Van Etten, Phoebe Bridgers

August 15th, 2022

Much loved by BBC’s Steve Lamacq Gretel Hänlyn joins us for our Central Belters season this August. Dark, broody lamentations blend with melodic guitars bringing out the best in Gretel’s incredibly unique voice, heavily reminiscent of London Grammar’s Hannah Reid and even Sharon Van Etten. We were so impressed by her show at The Great Escape we couldn’t resist inviting her up to Edinburgh for all of you to see!

Central Belters 2022
Gelatine
Sam Akpro
Dusk Amadeus
for fans of… King Krule, Pixies, Melt Yourself Down

August 13th, 2022

Central belters Gelatine are no stranger to Sneaks having closed out Independent Venue Week for us and holding down numerous support slots, we’re super excited to have them back serving up their trademark gelatinous psychedelic rock as part of their electric live show.

Joining Gelatine is Peckham born and raised Sam Akpro who’s unique sound makes him an exciting prospect for the UK music scene in 2022. Melding fuzzed out guitars and digi drums, his eclectic tastes pepper his output and offer alternative indie for a discerning modern ear. His latest EP, Drift (a Sneaks office favourite), succinctly pulls together all of Sam’s influence as it dips a toe in electronica, psychedelic rock and grunge, all wrapped up in lo-fi punk sensibilities.

Billy Got Waves
Bloody Shield
Kombo
for fans of… Future, Young Thug

August 12th, 2022

Given his name from the late Virgil Abloh, Edinburgh-based Billy Got Waves, like his great great grandfather Bert Marshall (an innovator in early jazz alongside Django Reinhardt) Billy is also innovating sounds in his own way. Merging genres and catchy hooks layered with witty lyricism and futuristic production, he has created his own world, which he sits comfortably in.

With his previous releases from 2018-2020 reaching over 1 million streams on Spotify alone, winning the IMA award for Best Scottish album and performing alongside the likes of Che Lingo, Kojey Radical, 808INK, A$AP Nast and Ramriddlz, Billy has since taken time out during the lockdown to redefine and hone his sound, gearing up for the release of his new album Rocket Boy.

With support from Bloody Shield and Kombo.
