Grace & The Flat Boys
FERNS
for fans of Jorja Smith, Blue Lab Beats, Erykah Badu

February 5th, 2023

Grace & The Flat Boys are an Edinburgh-based 5-piece playing their own fusion of jazz, RnB, rock and soul.

They’ve been gigging since late 2018 and released their debut EP ‘Wheels‘ in September 2021 followed by their successful single ‘Work it Out’ in July 2022.

Included in GIG.MOUTH music’s ‘Ones to Watch 2022‘ list, this year has seen the band expand into Glasgow and become a regular name on Scottish summer festival lineups. In 2022 the band played ‘Scotland in Colour’, Aye Festival, Camp Bestival, the Endless Summer showcase at The Hug and Pint, the Central Belters 2022 Showcase at Sneaky Pete’s and ‘Scenes in the City’ for EHFM – Sharing the stage with the likes Josef Akin, Dinosaur 94, KIEFF, Albertine Sarges, Billy Got Waves, Bemz and Aiitee.

With plans to release a new single in February 2023, followed by an EP later in the year, they’re a band to keep a close eye on for other reasons than their bad dancing.

“A lauded jazz outfit” – The Skinny

“I love the energy of their music, and their gigs are unbelievably fun” – EHFM

“…fleshy, melodic keys… gel with tight bass-lines, polished guitar riffs, and a drummer who couldn’t miss a beat if he tried” – LOAF magazine

“Grace & The Flat Boys, undoubtedly one of Edinburgh’s best bands right now.” – The Student

EHFM presents:
LWS b2b J Wax

February 4th, 2023

Undeniably two of the UK’s most exciting young producers right now, J Wax and LWS both make break-neck UK club trax – releasing on labels like Redstone Press, Future Classic, Peder Mannerfeld Produktion, Headset and Palidrone Records.

They also both happen to live in Edinburgh and are EHFM residents – so we’re dead excited to have them both go back to back all night long. We’re expecting some seeeerious heat!

As always, all profits go to keeping our wee community station on air 🙂

NoGood Boyo
Kintra
for fans of… Elephant Sessions, The Prodigy, Enter Shikari

February 2nd, 2023

The trash-trad group NoGood Boyo is the only band you need to see if you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you locked Enter Shikari, The Prodigy and Meredydd Evans, in one room and told them to make some noise. NoGood Boyo is also the only band with an accordion to request extra security staff, and paramedics on standby after shattering dancefloors at their gig in Brittany the night before. Even without listening to a note, and whatever you think of traditional music, these facts make them like no other grassroots band coming out of Wales right now.

Dressed in attire resembling a steampunking Welsh Nana, and with their music mixing traditional Welsh language songs with the sounds of 90s rave and nu-metal, NoGood Boyo are already on their way to taking over the music industry in Wales, and they are ready to party like it’s 1699.

NoGood Boyo take their genre-bending ‘trash-trad’ label from the purists out to stop them, and the traditional music they proudly and brashly mashed up, and brought in to the 21st Century. Their uniform consists of a boiler suit, sunglasses, and a traditional Welsh hat – seen only on biscuit tins and tacky merch at Barry Island until now.

Heaters // Haptic:
k means

February 1st, 2023

Hailing from Stockholm and currently based in Bristol, K Means is a DJ who explores exhilarating combinations of club music drawing from footwork, industrial, deep and murky dub, breaks, techno and more.

“She has a profound love of the raw energy and lethal functionality of footwork and juke, the music that got her into mixing in the first place and, she says, ‘sits closest to my heart’. Add the sonic textures of whirring modems, dial-up tones and error message glitch that accompanies her other role as a computer scientist, as well as many hours of on-air experimentation for Noods, Netil and Rinse FM, and you’re halfway to the singular space her ear occupies.” – Fact Mag

We can’t wait to see what she has in store for us!
