Forming at a Bristol club night in 2019 with a collective appreciation for all things shoegaze; DAMEFRISØR bring an appreciate for sonics seen in bands such as The Horrors and My Bloody Valentine, whilst keeping a keen detail on their captivating live show.
In the spring of 2021 the band headed to the studio with producer Will Carkeet (Robbie & Mona, Pet Shimmers) to record their new singles; ‘Do You Think I’m Special?’ and ‘2- HEH-V’ released via Permanent Creeps Records. The singles would go on to receive plaudits from the music press and radio alike, with both singles being championed by Steve Lamacq and the latter featuring on the BBC 6 Music Playlist for three weeks whilst collating six-figure streams.
Over the past year the band have supported names such as Katy J Pearson, Squid, Folly Group and KEG whilst playing to capacity crowds at headline shows in both Bristol and London.
Following hot on the heels of their previous singles the band ventured to Leeds this summer to record their debut EP; ‘Island of Light’ with producer Alex Greaves (Working Men’s Club, BDRMM, Lice…), set for release February 2023.
Acclaimed New Zealand musician Nadia Reid is praised the world over for her intimate, complex songwriting. She is described by The Guardian as ‘an understated, wise guide through uncertain territory’ while her lyrics are called ‘allegorical…brutally honest’ by The Revue. What brings Reid’s lyrics to life is her unique voice and accompanying soundscapes that seem to at once evoke the rugged beaches and mountains of Aotearoa, the Port Chalmers harbour of her home, and the roaming, open territory of the road.
In March of 2020, Reid released her third full-length album ‘Out of My Province’ via her own label Slow Time Records in New Zealand and Spacebomb Records for the rest of the world. The Line of Best Fit declared it Reid’s “most polished album to date” with Uncut calling it “her best album yet”, awarding it 8/10. In New Zealand, Reid was then shortlisted for Silver Scroll Award (Top 5), 3 NZ Music Awards and most recently the Taite Music Prize (for the third time).
Reid has completed three European tours with long-time collaborator Sam Taylor, performed several times in New York City, and completed countless tours of New Zealand and Australia. In between recent Covid-19 lockdowns, she completed an Opera House & Theatre tour of Aotearoa with her 6-piece band, and a 20 date “Reid & Ruins” tour with Tiny Ruins’ Hollie Fullbrook. The Revue said of Reid “Whereas pop and rock stars may hear raucous cheers and shouts during their concerts, Reid hears only silence because every person is gazing at her and lost in her stories. This is a power that few artists possess”.
Reid is currently working on her fourth studio album.
“Reid is a remarkable talent, assured, clever and confident singer-songwriter…..a devastating youthful wisdom that gives her songs a feeling of lasting profundity.” – The Guardian
“For a new artist, her confident grace is all the more remarkable” – Pitchfork “
…a young New Zealand singer-songwriter you’ll feel you’ve known forever”– MOJO

We’ve wanted to put on a live hip-hop show in the Sneaky’s sweat pit for a while and to pair it with Jersey Club creates the perfect storm. With support Volens Chorus resident Quarterpoundernocheese it’s set to be a night to remember.
Following their widely praised EP “Toner”, the band’s stunning debut album ‘BLUSH’ sees them further consolidating the beating pulse of electronic music with the raw energy of a life-affirming gig and reveals more about the trio than they’ve ever previously shared. The eleven blistering tracks from the group, Ella Harris and Josh Baxter (who share lead vocals
as well as handling synths, guitars and production) alongside drummer and percussionist Louis Satchell, are made from a formula of acid, disco, blistering synths, the release of the dancefloor and cathartic sprechgesang post-punk.
The last year also saw the band make an incendiary live appearance alongside the likes of Burna Boy, Marcus Mumford, Loyle Carner, and The Big Moon, on BBC’s Later… with Jools Holland, performing their BBC Radio 6 Music playlisted single “Hero Man”. They also released a cover of Big Thief’s “Not” – which was recorded for a ‘Future Artists’ session with Jack Saunder’s on BBC Radio 1 – as well as a number of singles and videos including “Kim”, “Bunker”, “Bad Dad”, and “Hero Man”, which have all earned significant plaudits across press and radio, including support from Lauren Laverne, Mary-Anne Hobbs, and more.
As further proof of their mesmerising live allure, PVA were nominated for “Best Live Performer” at 2022’s AIM Awards, a nomination which came as the band made a slew of powerful performances across Latitude Festival, Standon Calling, The Great Escape, Route du Rock, Into The Great Wide Open, Congés Annulés, and Wilderness, as well as SXSWNow, the band continue their must-see victory lap with dates across the UK.
