Chaos in the Cosmos:
Journey to the Center of the Earth

April 17th, 2023

In the year 2048 on April 17th, a team of scientists and explorers called Chaos In The Cosmos invited the mysterious yet incredibly talented “The Nightlark” to embark on a journey to the center of the Earth. They had heard rumors of untold riches and ancient artifacts hidden deep within the planet, but what they found was far more incredible than they could have ever imagined.

As they descended through the layers of the Earth’s crust, the team encountered all manner of mythical beasts and monsters. Giant spiders with razor-sharp fangs, winged dragons breathing fire, and massive serpents with scales as hard as steel.

But the team had come prepared. Using the latest in sonic technology, they had devised a way to defeat these creatures using a combination of only the finest and rarest disco and italo soundwaves. The pulsating beats and infectious rhythms would confuse and disorient the monsters, leaving them vulnerable to attack.

Join them this Monday as they teleport back in time to share their stories and showcase the exact sonic waves used to defeat the creatures of the deep.

THE NIGHTLARK – Edinburgh-based DJ + co-founder of the Pure Mana club night, mix series, & radio show on EHFM with fellow selector Nina Stanger. A&R for the Paradise Palms label, can be found most summers flitting between UK festivals blending the sleazy US house sounds with the many variations of UK Bass genres. They are also an avid collector of disco, funk, soul and balearic sounds.

On support, we have chaos residents DJ ENKI, JEDDA & Faisal

Eve Simpson
Ami McGuinness
Brodie Barclay
for fans of…Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling, Carole King

April 17th, 2023

‘… the masterful songwriting of Eve Simpson’ – RGM Magazine, 2022.

Eve Simpson, songwriter, storyteller, and collaborative community artist from South Shields, situates her Geordie lilts in the Celtic surroundings of Edinburgh. Written between the two places, her upcoming EP seeks inspiration from Joni Mitchell’s Woodstock-like playfulness and the honest vulnerability of songwriters Laura Marling and Carole King. Funded by Youth Music’s NextGen Fund, Simpson’s ‘All Her Strange’ EP is a coming-of-age exploration of love, growth, misogyny, grief, and heartbreak, Simpson’s most honest offering yet.

Returning to releasing in 2022, Eve has received editorial support on Soundcloud’s Hot UK Pop, as a recent Global Distribution signing of Horus Music. Eve has received regular airplay and playlisting from BBC Introducing, adding to prior support across Introducing festival stages and BBC 6 Music. In addition to previous tours with Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Eve has debuted her new live material at Edinburgh Hogmanay Festival, Sofar Sounds (Glasgow, Edinburgh), Sneaky Pete’s Central Belter’s Fringe Showcase, and Virgin Media Hotels. Previous collaborations have seen Eve gig with Beth Nielsen Chapman, Kathryn Tickell, and The Lake Poets, as well as scoring the North East segment of a FOCAL International award-winning film.

Attending the Ivor Novello Awards in 2022, Eve is currently an In The Room representative for the Ivors Academy, working on the impact of working outside of a major music city on the mental health of music industry workers. Eve also co-runs an independent record label, Intarsia Records, focussing on underrepresented artists in the UK. Eve’s EP is due for release in April 2023, with the lead single, His Euphoria, out on the 17th February, and supported by her April UK Tour.

Fat Dads
The Vaunts
Cannongate
for fans of… The Strokes, Sports Team, Wet Leg, RATS

April 16th, 2023

Harking back to the early 00’s Garage / Indie scene, Fat Dads write catchy indie tunes with a DIY sensibility.

‘Fat Dads’ released their debut track ‘Trust & Promises’ in June, to great acclaim. Word of mouth on Twitter saw the track find its way to John Kennedy, who gave it a spin on Radio X. The band were also quickly picked up by UK Indie tastemakers ‘This Feeling’, who have ear-marked them as one of the best new bands in the country. The follow up single ‘Taking Our Sweet Time’ released in August and was picked up by both Radio 1 and Radio X, again through word of mouth.

Their third single ‘Filthy Animal’, released in November and played by Radio X on release day, hit 5000 streams in its first 24 hours, a feat which had taken the bands previous singles months to achieve.

Their debut EP sold out of all 300 copies within the first 48 hours of release.

All of this without contacts, PR, management, label etc, or even any gigs.

April 15th, 2023

Former LYL resident and half of Edinburgh’s dearly departed night, ‘Rhythm Machine’, joins forces with resident Andrea Montalto.

This Balearic (oops, Mediterranean!) rendez-vous between Italy and France (via Scotland) is set to be a memorable tête-à-tête.

Expect the usual dose of sun-infused dance music plus a few curve balls from these 2 vibe-veterans of the capital scene.
