Comfort
Brodie Milner
August 13th, 2023
Comfort’s set up consists of Sean on drums and Natalie as magnetic frontwoman, backed by wildly oscillating software synths to create music that is direct, engaging and uncompromising. Their sheer live power leaves audiences excited and wild-eyed, and their energy is infectious, as is the rawness of their messages. Confrontational yet vulnerable their music reaches for a personal, yet queer liberation within a constrictive society.
Brodie Milner wears his songs like an ill fitted suit. Combining intelligent lyricism with intricate melodies, his music feels nuanced, evocative, and a bit too sad for a summer’s party. Listeners can expect to hear influences from the likes of Ben Howard, Big Thief, Fontaines D.C, Bob Dylan, Father John Misty, and some novelists you’ve probably heard of. Brodie’s music has been championed by the likes Gemma Bradley (BBC Radio 1), Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6), Phil Taggart (formerly BBC Radio 1), and Shell Zenner, Charlie Ashcroft, and Frankie Francis (Amazing Radio UK/USA), as well as broadcast widely across grassroots, regional, and international radio (ByteFM, Boogaloo Radio, and more).

Yabba
Lloyd’s House
Night Caller
August 10th, 2023
YABBA don’t try to be anything or be a part of any scene. Anything goes. From Dumfries, in south west Scotland, their in comparable sleaze-disco, self-indulgent, drug jam sound has driven the quintet in equal measure to go above and beyond all cultural norms, and to fecund a feeling in music that specialises in the dark and danceable. Refusing to be defined or confined to any limits, for art’s sake, YABBA finds inspiration from the malevolent power structures within an exhausted musical landscape. Out to project ecstasy through honest music, YABBA believes it’s all or nothing in order to protect and survive.
Glasgow based lo-fi pop aficionado Lloyd’s House returns with new single ‘Heather,’ building on and adding a new sheen to his acclaimed material thus far.
‘Heather ‘finds Lloyd’s House embracing his best flamboyant pop self with a breathy, hooky track that builds to a crescendo through dreamy harmonies and poignant “oh’s” as the singer pines over a lost love.
Night Caller, made up of members from Neon Waltz, The Stagger Rats and The Merrylees have recently released their first single with an EP expected to follow in the summer.
Individually, members have recorded with the likes of Paul Weller, The Coral and The Zombies and have branded their music as “gutter pop”.

Canongate
Hospital Corner
August 8th, 2023
Canongate are a (now four!)-piece band from Edinburgh, Scotland. looking to take over the earth using strange guitar sounds and a man of business ‘Leon Morris’
They have just released their fourth single, Glad I’m Free, further confusing their audience about what genre of music Canongate songs are.
Although described loosely as an ‘Alt Indie’ band, Canongate’s experimental edge has them pushing the envelope and writing many different types of music between, and even within, their songs.
Hospital Corner (aka Christopher Finn) is set release his new EP ‘Seasonal Change’. It’s collection of songs that’s wrapped in melonic alternative rock but with hope and optimism piercing through. Waiting For Me is the perfect first single and opening gusto for the EP. It’s an anthemic rock sound in the spirt of a Frighted Rabbit that has an edge that would be at home on the left of dial of college radio stations. The riff and the idea of the song have been bubbling away for years and with the encouragement of a close friend he finally got around to recording it. A prime example is that you need to surround yourself with people who believe in you.
