Cloud Caravan
Spinney

July 12th, 2024

Cloud Caravan is the indie-pop project of 4 Sheffield-bred musicians. This collaboration of lifelong friends and musical companions has resulted in a scrapbook of bittersweet songs carefully laden with lush synths, haunting vocal hooks and wholehearted, evocative rhythms.

Their live performances are an alluring patchwork of musical styles with honest passionate lead vocals, a jazz-influenced rhythm section and folk-inspired backing vocals, which explore the universal pulls between light and shade in friendships and love.

Assembling a body of songs written across a turbulent period, the band’s debut EP ‘Memories Photographic’ was released in May 2023. Building on layers of reminiscence and emotional resonances, a sophomore EP ‘Kitchen Sink’ will be released later in 2024.

A complex collage of memories within the band’s fabric conducts a hope and an underlying defiance. This intention is at the core of our performances. The weave of these memories channel a musical escapism which feels at times like the only merciful constant.

The band have taken inspiration from artists such as Wolf Alice, Matt Maltese, This is the Kit and John Martyn.

Super Duty Tough Work
Kryptik
for fans of… A Tribe Called Quest, Noname, The Roots, De La Soul

July 9th, 2024

Since forming in late 2014, Super Duty Tough Work has earned the region’s premier live hip hop contingent title.  Fronted by Brendan Grey and backed by a highly skilled group of local and international musicians, the band prefers to hit the stage as an ensemble with horns, drums, bass, guitar, and keys.

“Relying on the potency of silky bass lines and honey-soaked horns, paired with exacting lyrics about sky-high ambitions, the eight-piece hybrid rap-jazz-r&b group channeled the beating heart of ‘90s east coast hip-hop into legendary performances across the country. when they finally got around to recording, the response was swift and gushing.” – Melissa Vincent – Words & Music, Socan

“Since its inception in 2014, super duty tough work has reigned as one of Winnipeg’s most exciting and prestigious hip-hop outfits, offering audiences a seven-person backing band that blends jazz with grey’s rap delivery — a style he describes as “public enemy meets Griselda [records] and Sampa The Great,” and one that’s heavily inspired by the ’90s east coast scene.” – Graeme Houssin, Beyond The 6, CBC Music

Lizzie No
Nate Bergman
for fans of… Phoebe Bridgers, Maggie Rogers, The Staves, Iron & Wine

July 8th, 2024

New York singer-songwriter, harpist and guitarist Lizzie No is one of the most exciting new voices in contemporary American music. You could say that she makes “Americana” music, in that her work pulls from the rhythms and traditions of blues, folk and country – not unlike the artists to whom she’s most often compared: Allison Russell, Rhiannon Giddens and Adia Victoria. However, her collaborations with Brian Dunne, Pom Pom Squad and Domino Kirke also embrace an undeniable indie influence that allows No to move seamlessly between overlapping musical circles.

After two stunningly eclectic albums, Hard Won and Vanity, Lizzie’s acclaimed new record, Halfsies, finds her still searching for freedom from the constraints of categorisation, but more importantly, freedom from the depths of despair and from an increasingly violent and nightmarish American cultural and political landscape.

Lizzie has toured with Iron & Wine, Adia Victoria, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, and has showcased at festivals like Newport Folk Fest, Americana Fest and South by Southwest. She is also a winner of the American Songwriter Lyrics Contest. In June 2021, she joined Basic Folk as a guest host, appearing monthly on the podcast.

Nate Bergman, the Nashville by way of D.C. singer-songwriter, is a performer with a voice that transcends generations. His powerful vocals create a timeless sound that weaves through the rich tapestry of Nashville’s musical heritage. Bergman’s unique ability to infuse elements of Country, Rock, Folk, and Soul results in a sound that resonates with an increasingly diverse audience.

Anchored in Nashville’s vibrant music scene, Bergman’s journey began with a passion for storytelling through song. His live performances are a testament to his exceptional talent, marked by a magnetic stage presence that captivates audiences wherever he sings. Whether with an acoustic guitar or a full band, Bergman’s performances are a visceral experience,
leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to witness his artistry live.

Beyond the city limits, Bergman has navigated highways across the globe supporting legendary artists like Amigo The Devil, Clutch, Valerie June, Will Hoge, The War and Treaty, Thursday, Cursive, My Chemical Romance, Arlo McKinley, and Anthony Green. Nate Bergman’s commitment to creating a timeless musical legacy, combined with his powerful voice and electrifying live performances, establishes him as a standout figure in Nashville’s thriving music scene.
