PEGGY SUE

June 2nd, 2010

“a lilting sweetness that is wholly deceptive, belying the undercurrent of fury in their lyrics … PJ Harvey style
guitars, giddy whirls of accordian, and a thrilling array of clattering, thundering, sharp and snappy percussion” **** – The Guardian

Peggy Sue (formerly known as Peggy Sue and the Pirates and Peggy Sue And The Pictures) are an indie folk band from Brighton in England. They have toured with a number of well-known indie artists in the UK including Kate Nash, Mumford & Sons and The Maccabees.

WASHINGTON IRVING + Sebastian Dangerfield + Octoberman + Peter Katz

Washinton Irvine

Washinton Irvine

In the last year Washington Irving’s powerful blend of storming vocals, folksy guitars, flute driven melodies and pounding drums has seen the band form a fanatical fan base all over Scotland. Recording their debut single ‘The Magician’ with producer Marcus Mackay (Frightened Rabbit, Snow Patrol, Reindeer Section, Sparrow & the Workshop) and releasing it on Glasgow indie label Instinctive Racoon Records in April has pushed the band to new heights playing with some fabulous acts such as Alasdair Roberts, Sparrow and The Workshop, Colin Macintyre, Tommy Reilly, and Jeremy Warmsley. Most recently the band were the handpicked Scottish choice for the April 2010 edition of the Pop Cop blog’s Music Alliance Pact which exposes the most exciting bands from different countries all over the world. With the release of their debut EP ‘Little Wanderer, Head Thee Home’ on June 7th, a busy summer of touring, and an appearance at T in the Park festival, 2010 looks set to be a big year for the band.

“make music in the vein of some of Scotland’s best and most successful indie-pop exporters” – The Scotsman

“…rich Americana country-styled songs, led by personal yet universal lyrics that demonstrates a healthy confidence in their own voice and place.” – The Skinny

“…. Wielding a varied array of instruments, their songs blossom with a life seldom seen outside a full orchestra. Given the size of the room and the attendance, the end result was a joyous cacophony of noise, and an atmosphere of abandon.” – Music News

‘They deliver irrepressibly wild, rambunctious folk-rock that taps into the raw energy of The Pogues, which explains why Washington Irving’s live shows never fail to win them new fans.’ – Pop Cop Blog
