THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS (MySpace @ http://www.myspace.com/thesevendeadlysinsofficial) This band’s take on classic punk, such as The Clash, and taking it and mixing it with a bit of Lennon (John, not Neil) and The Rolling Stones makes a taste good enough for the ears of Edinburgh. Started in early 2010, by Singer/Songwriter Alex Moran after meeting Guitarist Euan Fullarton, Bassist Kev Turner and Callum Norris with the sticks, creating what we know today as… well, you read the top. Having already released their first music video less than a year ago, the group have three more videos in the works, so be ready, as they won’t be a sight for sore eyes.

ECHO ARCADIA Edinburgh based Pop-Rock-Indie band Echo Arcadia, grace us with their easy-listening, feel-good sound, with melodic guitar riffs backed up by their catchy keys, which are always a plus. This 5-piece, formed in 2009, consists of two vocalists, which isn’t unheard of, but still an interesting factor in making this band individual, which all bands want to be, well apart from tribute bands I guess, anyway, another fun fact is that this band was formerly known as Brightside. That’s it. Enjoy.

THE BARRY VAN DYKES Edinburgh based Alternative Rock band with their slow-paced guitar picking and melodic vocals make this band’s winning formula, if that’s what you like of course. The simple but effective guitar riffs give these guys a bit of edge which, for their genre, is absolutely perfect if you want to hear acoustic, but with a classic rock twist.

FLAGS OF FIRE Locally based Indie Rock add their own melodic touch to the genre, so I can’t see why it wouldn’t appeal to you. Intricate riffs from both Bass and Guitar come together with the drums to make a final product to be proud of. Oh yeah, and there’s vocals in there somewhere too. Definitely go see these guys.

COWTSHTF 2 features a combination of surreal lyrical gymnastics and bombastic thermonuclear beats and runs the gauntlet from dancefloor-bangers, through hard hitting adrenaline rushes, to odd psychedelic trips. Check out the EP trailer on Soundcloud, already notching up positive head nods and comments from the leftfield and delivering a teaser of their mind-fuck amalgam.

Verse Metrics are a four-piece alternative band based in Glasgow, Scotland. Formed in August 2009 and played their debut gig in July 2010.

Summer and Autmn 2010 was spent recording the ‘VM1’ EP in Dundee with Robin Sutherland (Stapleton, Avast!, Laeto, Pensioner) which was mastered at Abbey Road and released in the following November supported by a 6 date Scottish tour and numerous favourable press reviews.

2011 thus far has seen Verse Metrics play the opening night of King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut’s ‘New Year Revolution’ festival to a full house and gain a mention amongst Vic Galloway’s tips for 2011.

The band are currently recording a two track release provisionally titled ‘Sleep and Wakefullness’ to be unveiled in the summer.

After playing for many years with John Peel favourites El Hombre Trageado, RM Hubbert released ‘First & Last’, his debut solo effort in March 2010, which was recently re-released by Chemikal Underground.

Since then he has toured with Mogwai, opened for Godspeed You! Black Emperor and started the amazing “Will Play For Food” scheme. With guests like Alex Kapranos, Aidan Moffat, Emma Pollock and Alasdair Roberts lined up for his follow up album 2011 is definately shaping up to be RM Hubbert’s year.

Based in Edinburgh, I Build Collapsible Mountains is the solo project of Luke G. Joyce. As former frontman for post-rock band The Gothenburg Address (ex-Arab Strap), Luke carries a strong history of performing to live crowds all around the UK and Europe. As opposed to his former band, however, I Build Collapsible Mountains is much more subdued and sees Luke returning to his roots as a singer-songwriter. Since releasing a debut album, ‘A Month Of Lost Memories’, I Build Collapsible Mountains has been the recipient of many praises across the country.
