Com Truise is one of the many personas of producer and designer Seth Haley, born and raised in upstate New York and operating out of a 12’-overrun apartment in Princeton, New Jersey. An admitted synth obsessive, Com Truise is the maker of an experimental and bottom heavy style he calls ‘mid-fi synthwave, slow-motion funk’.

While subliminally informed by both parental record collections and hints of faded electronics product design, Com Truise project isn’t just nostalgia capitalization. There are fragments of Joy Division, New Order, and the Cocteau Twins, but it’s like you’re hearing them through the motherboard of a waterlogged Xbox—demented and modern.

When talking about the music of Com Truise (one of the many pseudonyms of New Jersey designer/musician Seth Haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes up, so let’s get that out of the way. Yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. But they’re also remarkably weird—stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. After his well-received Cyanide Sisters EP, a grip of remixes for artists like Twin Shadow, Neon Indian, and, uh, Daft Punk, and a few floating MP3s, Truise’s first LP, Galactic Melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer.

Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley-Taylor have been making music together since they were children, growing up in Watford, England. Brought up in a house that echoed to the sounds of Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Beatles, singing in perfect 3-part harmony came naturally to these three sisters. Having started gigging in local pubs and cafes, The Staves are now captivating audiences on much bigger stages – earning rapturous encores with their exquisite songs of love & longing. Guaranteed to give you goosebumps, their extraordinary intertwining voices melt the most cynical of hearts. The Staves’ “Mexico EP” will be released later this year via Atlantic Records.

Communion was born in the Summer of 2006 at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club. Founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), former Cherbourg bassist Kevin Jones, and acclaimed producer Ian Grimble, it quickly grew into a flourishing community of musicians and fans alike, providing a first independent platform for the freshest young artists on London’s circuit and beyond.

The monthly night has now seen the likes of Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling, Mumford and Sons, JJ Pistolet and Peggy Sue all grace the stage from the very start of their fledgling careers. It has also helped spawn the first steps for a diverse range of artists from Kurran and the Wolfnotes to Alan Pownall, The Holloways to King Charles, and Example to Josh Weller, all in keeping with the eclectic ethos that Communion has come to stand for.
