Communion 1st Annual Christmas Party: PANDA SU and
ADAM HOLMES & THE EMBERS

December 28th, 2011

Communion is the touring showcase born in the Summer of 2006 at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club. Founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), former Cherbourg bassist Kevin Jones, and acclaimed producer Ian Grimble, it quickly grew into a flourishing community of musicians and fans alike, providing a first independent platform for the freshest young artists on London’s circuit and beyond. It comes to Edinburgh once a month.

PANDA SU could be described as something of an enigma. Half Portuguese, born in the rural Highlands of Scotland and having spent her formative years deep in the forests of Fife.

One of life’s interlopers, her music stands on the edge of reason, where Su looks into the precipice with a wry smile and a nervous anticipation that is mirrored in her lyrics. Darkly fascinating, she weaves her spell with a recipe of childlike simplicity that is nothing less than compelling.

Awarded “Best Newcomer” in the 2010 Jockrock Scottish Music Industry Awards, PANDA SU has gained a worldwide following, through her constant touring & festival appearances. The inclusion of her song Eric is Dead in the Finale of Skins Season 4 has taken PANDA SU’s appeal to a far greater audience.

Her new EP, I Begin is a collection of recordings made with producer Robin Sutherland in Dundee over Christmas 2010. Yet again, PANDA SU has managed to pull off a delicious slice of dark pop devised to disarm the listeners’ subconscious.

2011 BBC Radio 2 award nominee ADAM HOLMES plays his own brand of roots pop with a hint of Scotland. The full versions of I Can’t Be Right, Fire In The Sun and Home can be found on the bands recently released EP Long Way Home which is available for download here on Amazing Tunes.

Make Sparks.

‘’ Well crafted pop songs performed with true belief and enthusiasm; a result of the years of dedication invested in their craft.’’ – The List

After taking time out to write new material, the band returned in September 2011 with a UK tour and single ‘Your Heart’s on Fire’

”Your Heart is on Fire by Make Sparks may well be the catchiest song ever written by any man, or woman, anywhere ever. Even catchier than Jump by Van Halen, there, i said it.” – Ally McCrae, BBC Introducing/Scotland
