Lionoil: Elles & Percy Main

July 27th, 2018

We’re well excited to invite ELLES along for our next Sneaks playdate.

She holds residencies with Netil Radio and Rádio Quântica (Violet‘s station in Lisbon) – but if you’re not familiar with her own shows, you’ll have almost definitely come across her guesting with Charlie Bones on NTS, Wes Baggaley on Rinse FM, Medlar on Balamii etc. She’s properly class, and having been on our radar for some time her naive tape sealed the deal.

Elles also collaborated with Violet on two of the 3 International Womens Day records, and they come together again for a record on Paramida’s Love On The Rocks imprint due for release the day after the party.

Did you hear that when Violet played Bongo back in March she played probably the best set of any of our parties so far? Aye, well Elles sits along very similar lines, and she’s been very busy.

TL;DR – plays great songs, everyone with a respectable opinion is a big fan, promising producer, good sense of humour.

Mon thru!

Forthcoming record:

Essential listening!!

CRYSTAL are a four-piece grunge/punk band comprised of Anna Shields, Blair Crichton, Lizzie Reid and Aidan McAllister. After the success of supporting Paolo Nutini at the Night Afore gig in Edinburgh and being featured on Tony Visconti’s Unsigned Heroes, CRYSTAL hosted a sold out EP launch night in Nice N Sleazy for their new EP SEX RICH.

CRYSTAL have been added to the line-up of Electric Fields Festival 2018 and the band are looking forward to playing many more packed out gigs and festivals in and around their home city Glasgow. Most recently, CRYSTAL were chosen to showcase at Wide Days 2018 to a sold out La Belle Angele. CRYSTAL have just released their new single ‘Heaven’ which is heavily inspired by 90’s grunge and 2018 will see the band releasing more singles and playing more gigs in and around Scotland.

Just announced: Tempesst!

July 27th, 2018

Aussie twins Toma and Andy Banjanin are Tempesst, alongside bandmates Kane Reynolds, Eric Weber and Blake Misipeka.

“Toma relinquishing any stress, as power pop backing vocals bolster his thoughts and a heady swell of strings lifts him off to a place of peace and understanding. Never a dark or dull moment, ‘A Little Bit Of Trouble’ plays out as a sumptuous slice of summertime soundtracking” The 405

“‘Waiheke’ is a slice of swirling folk, the track evokes the spirit and breezy nature of early Fleet Foxes and rises and falls in gorgeous waves.” – DIY Magazine

“It feels like the falsetto has been missing from psych for too long… Aussie twins Toma and Andy Banjanin, aka newcomers Tempesst who’s chorus to new track ‘Too Slow’ cuts through like a woozy soul classic.” – NME Magazine

“Tidal Wave is a blissful, psych-pop number which encourages the listener to calm down dear, hitch a ride on Tempesst’s space shuttle, and get lost in the sonic hypnoticism of their sunny grooves.” – Noisey/VICE

“A web of gorgeous textures and structure-shifting whims. Giving nods to early Fleet Foxes with its lush, grandiose opening, it then reveals a thousand different shades – Joseph’s Technicolor Coat doesn’t have shit on this.” – DIY Magazine

Just announced: Virginia Wing!

July 27th, 2018

Virginia Wing’s ‘Ecstatic Arrow’ is our favourite album of the year so far. It’s a remarkable, loveable record of feminist release, recorded in the Swiss Alps, and appropriately enough is by turns sunny and icy, spacious and soaring. We can’t stress enough how special this show is!

“Virginia Wing’s is an understated but familiar scramble of mid-’80s pop at its most avant-garde — Laurie Anderson’s sprechgesang, Peter Gabriel and Japan’s chilly hauteur; Kate Bush’s imposing dynamic and Malcolm McLaren’s impish reinvention—so if Ecstatic Arrow doesn’t feel quite like stepping into a new world, it at least returns us to an unspoiled glade.” – Pitchfork
