Lionoil: Medlar b2b Percy Main

August 31st, 2018

Another year, another fringe. No more unwanted flyers, 5ams, elbowing through crowds, free comedy or totally socially acceptable month long day drinking for another 11 months.

To bring in September, we’ve invited our very good pal up from Peckham, a long time friend of the club who for some reason has never played a Lionoil party before. It’s time to put that right…

You should already ken Medlar, but if you don’t he has: a great album on WOLF from back in 2013 which still does the business; a very strong rep as a remixer, laying his flaves down officially for TK Disco, West End Records & Dele Sosimi on Wah Wah 45s among many others; a year long residency at Sneaks back in 2015, and he’s part of the same West Friends cruh as FYI Chris, Rye Wax etc etc.

All night b2b, pals, pints – yeeoo!

The Weather Station

August 26th, 2018

“Timeless… Measured, perceptive storytelling. A singer with an unmistakable & communicative voice, able to convey hope & hurt with equal clarity.” – Pitchfork

“She writes literate songs with unusual precision & sings them in an understated, open-hearted way that lends good poetry the directness of conversation.” – Uncut

“Bob Dylan aside, the singer-songwriter I’ve listened to most over the past year, & to whom I expect to be paying attention for many more to come, is Tamara Lindeman, who, under the name the Weather Station, performs songs notable for a conversational fluency, a diarist’s powers of observation, & a quiet refusal of emotional simplicities.” – Richard Williams, The Guardian

15 yrs as a stand-up has weaponised Jacques’ ability to sum people up on sight. I’m sure you have good intuition, but let’s go deeper/stupider: Interpret body language, body art and body odour. Conceal gaping character flaws from your new love interests. Spot a sociopath way too late. **** – Herald Sun ***** – The West Australian
