Without doubt one of the most inspiring artists on the scene at the moment: Avalon Emerson is a self taught musical tech-head who can bring the heat both in the booth and on a record.

Avalon’s releases on labels such as Whities, Spring Theory and Spectral Sound are constant go to’s, guaranteed to have a dance floor ready to lose it. Her recent contribution to the Essential Mix series is yet another testament to her tight technical ability, proving why Avalon Emerson is a force to be reckoned with…

Husky Loops are a band set on breaking the rules, bending genre boundaries and stepping boldly into the unknown, mixing live and electronic elements in deeply satisfying danceable whole.

Their debut EPs strike a perfect balance between the unhinged nature of their live shows and the meticulous detail that goes into every one of their studio recordings. Far-out apocalyptic arrangements collide with “pissed-o pop” structures as the group continues to define and accomplish their incredible musical vision. Their latest single “When I Come Home” is inspired by contemporary R’n’B & hip hop, but also the Italian songwriters of the 70s, and produced by Tommaso Colliva (Muse/Franz Ferdinand).

Avalanche Party is feral garage-punk from the wild North Yorkshire Moors, hopped up on adrenalin and amphetamines. Every note is played through white knuckles, every word spat through gritted teeth, snorting, snarling and tearing apart everything in their path.

Vic Galloway insisted we book Avalanche Party for Independent Venue week saying they were the most exciting live band in the UK, and when they played for us we found out just how right he was. Now they are back after the festival season, with the similarly raucous Canshaker Pi in tow.

FRUIT is a new digital platform and annual magazine that invites you to take a bite into the zesty lives of those who choose to go against the grain. Be they an economics student painting surrealist landscapes, four mothers rowing across the Atlantic Ocean or a trans woman leading the fight for LGBT+ rights, we revere these people.
