Willie J Healey + Holy Loaf

February 21st, 2019

Songs are inspired by aliens, space and the extraterrestrial.

I’m writing to apologise for my recent behaviour, and to set the record straight on a few things.

It turns out that sound-proofing a garage is pretty damn hard and to get the guitar tone I like I have to turn my amp up all the way, otherwise it sounds like the beach boys throwing up.

All at the same time.

In harmony.

I’m sure you understand.

I am particularly embarrassed about the burger wrapper that blew into your pond.

Who knew fish would want to eat that stuff?

Anyway, I hope they’re now ok.

I think I’ve managed to recover all of the clothes that were taken from your clothes-line.

I personally didn’t find it funny when Eddy dressed up in your wife’s clothes, but you’re only 20 once.

Unfortunately the midnight tones are essential – but I’ll be more selective about who I invite over in the future.

I’ll also try to be more careful about knocking your bins over with my car.

The trouble is that it’s quite long and really awkward to turn.

Oh and for those who asked, I call it surf rock.

But whatever, Homemade stuff all sounds the same to me.

Come hang with me sometime.

Just Announced: Free Love at Summerhall!

February 21st, 2019

We’ve linked up with our pals at Summerhall to present this special gig with one of Scotland’s best bands right now.

Free Love is the latest manifestation of Scottish duo Suzanne Rodden and Lewis Cook (FKA Happy Meals) – a continuation and progression of their utopian dance pop experiments released on Night School Records and Optimo which have seen them nominated for Scottish Album of the Year and performing across the globe. Touring across Europe supporting Liars and The Flaming Lips, and with festival shows as far as Austin, Moscow and Bangalore, the band have become notorious for their sensual live ceremonies.

Using a table of all-hardware electronics, Free Love harness a charismatic chaos and unpredictable energy that sets them apart as one of the most exciting artists of 2019.

Just Announced: Amp Fiddler Live!

February 21st, 2019

Amp Fiddler is back and live at Popular Music on Thursday April 4th!

When you listen to the music of Joseph ‘Amp’ Fiddler your ears are picking up something a little different; authentic funk straight from the heart of Detroit in a sea of beige imitations. But then you don’t play with two of the greatest RnB groups ever created (namely Enchantment and Parliament/Funkadelic), teach J Dilla how to use the MPC60, and write and record music with the likes of Prince and Seal without knowing how to make very fly soul music.

The Virginmarys + Florence Black

February 19th, 2019

We’ve secured a very special intimate show with The Virginmarys ahead of the release of their long-gestated third album ‘Northern Sun Sessions’.

The Virginmarys extraordinary 2013 rock debut ‘King of Conflict’ debuted #3 on the Billboard New Artist Chart and, they were a buzz band of SXSW and were feted by the US press.

They kept the momentum going with 2016’s ‘Divides’ which had accompanying US, Europe, and Japanese headline tours and support slots with Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Slash, Skunk An- ansie, Eagles of Death Metal, Ash, Feeder, and We Are Scientists.

NUTS // Just Another Messy Night

February 18th, 2019

NUTS are back at our favourite stomping ground, Sneaky Pete’s!! If you’ve been to any of our previous nights here then you’ll know exactly what to expect;

> House / Disco / Techno
> Edinburgh’s Best DJ’s
> An Unrivaled Atmosphere
> A Guaranteed Messy Night

For this event we will be joined by some good friends of ours over at Queen Margaret Techno Society! We’ve been very impressed with them over the past 6 months where they’ve racked up sets at Cabaret Voltaire playing for Edinburgh’s heavyweights FLY CLUB and Hector’s House Edinburgh, so you can be sure they’ll bring the party on Monday 18th February!

Our recent Sneaky Pete’s events have been by far our favourite, hitting capacity early on, so expect the same for this one!

International Teachers Of Pop + WomanSaid

February 17th, 2019

ITP are a “Nerd Disco” project and “Northern Groove Machine” from founders/co-writers of The Moonlandingz, Adrian Flanagan and Dean Honer in cahoots with vocalist Leonore Wheatley.

Having debuted with some very special shows with friends Jarvis Cocker and Roisin Murphy, they’ve made “the third most important outsider pop album to come out of Sheffield.” (Behind Dare and Different Class, obviously).

“Demented parallel universe popstars.”– The Quietus

“A mesh of bedroom dance moves and infectious pop
melodies.” – The Guardian
