Hector House // Jamie 3:26 [3-hour set]

March 2nd, 2019

We’re delighted to have secured yet another Chicago x Edinburgh debut, this time in the form of one of the Windy City’s OGs, Jamie 3:26!

Hailing from the Beverly area on the South Side of Chicago, Jamie’s career kicked-off back in 1987 and he has since garnered global recognition in his own right as a master selector capable of lighting any dancefloor on fire. His recent club gigs include the likes of fabric, Djoon, The Warehouse Project, Rex Club, The Jazz Cafe, ://about blank, and Shelter, alongside festival appearances at SuncéBeat, Liverpool Disco Festival, Defected Croatia, and Southport Weekender, amongst others, so to have secured a date with him playing a 100 capacity space is a real coup. With a deep vinyl collection that covers every inch of the disco, house, and soul spectrum, Jamie regularly plays with/alongside other masterful selectors including Mr Scruff, Dan Shake, Theo Parrish, and Marcel Vogel.

Over the past 30 years he has released music on highly respected labels such as Rush Hour, Local Talk, Salsoul Records (‘Hit It N Quit It’ has been a huge anthem at Hect?rs), Lumberjacks in Hell, and, of course, his own imprint, 3:26. 2018 saw Jamie’s career really step-up a gear, the pinnacle of which was the fact he had the honour of headlining Boiler Room’s ‘Final Night In Paradise’ extravaganza – a unique homage to Larry Levan and the scene he created. This truly demonstrates to the world how highly he is regarded and his current status in the scene. He not only captures the past of those eras gone by but he is also the future of Chicago house music!

Jamie 3:26 will headline our next bimonthly party at Sneaky Pete’s on Saturday 2nd March. Edinburgh Don and Athens Of The North representative, Gareth Sommerville, is on warm-up duties ahead of Jamie playing a 3 hour set ?

Tickets priced £5-15 will go on sale tomorrow at 9am. Given the calibre of this booking, and Sneakys super-limited capacity, we expect this party to sell-out in advance.

For the first time ever ahead of one of our bimonthly parties at Sneakys, we’re throwing a pre-party at Cafe Voltaire (Blair Street) from 8-11pm. This will be soundtracked by our new ressies, handmade, and fellow top selectors/gents, The Mirror Dance. At 11pm we’ll all be heading along to Sneakys so we’ve got a full house ready for the start of Jamie’s set at midnight.

We hope you’re as excited as we are to catch a Chi-Town stalwart serve up some real Chicago goodness in such an intimate environment. Roll on 02/03 ?

Paris Street Rebels + Parliamo + Secret Public

March 1st, 2019

Refuge Island

Speaking about their debut single, Refuge Island frontman Wullie O said: “It’s all about the sound. Refuge Island is our way to bring the swagger back into the music scene. There’s a tide of talent out there but we want you to take a ride on our wave. We want you to listen to our music and get lost in it.
It’s a no-nonsense big guitar sound with infectious melodies, that’s for everyone. Come out and see us, we’ll guarantee it’ll be a show you don’t forget.”

Influenced by The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Libertines, The Stooges, False Heads, Trampoline and Slaves among others. Refuge Island have a distinct sound and style they deliver a mesmerising, intriguing and unique performance a performance not to be missed.

The debut single Above Board is out now and available to stream or download on Itunes, Apple Music and Spotify.

Parliamo

Hailing out of Perth with an irrepressible energy and rock’n’roll vibe are Parliamo.

Jack Dailly (vocalist) gives a short insight to the band’s sound. “We started out writing tunes on acoustic guitars, inspired by 60s music. We wrote melodies in the vein of Motown and doo-wop, and that still shines through in our tunes.

“With the full band, each person brought something to the music. We started to incorporate Ben’s driving 80s drum beats and Fraser’s Peter Hook-esque bass lines. Also, Calum’s thrashing, distorted lead guitar parts have a punk energy inspired by bands like The Clash.”

“We write about our lives and our mates’ lives, from teenage girls to tonic wine.”

Secret Public

Hungry for it…Indie newbies from Edinburgh play their first hometown gig. This band are hungry for it and desperate to show the Scottish music scene what they have to offer. Believe me they will not disappoint this is a band with a great future.

Influences are Arctic Monkeys, Buzzcocks, The Clash, Franz Ferdinand, Idlewild, Oasis, Pixies, Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Undertones, Weezer
