Bess Atwell + Eve Owen + Magpie Blue
Sold Out

November 20th, 2021

Bess Atwell is full of questions: on life, death, love, loss… and how things that at first seem mundane become profound when looked at in a different light.

“Co-op” is an exquisite work that unfurls like one of those first precious blooms of spring; luscious ripples of guitar surround Atwell’s crystalline vocals (that will undoubtedly draw favourable comparisons to the likes of Marika Hackman and Julia Jacklin). Her lyrics switch between the past and present tense, offering polaroid snapshots of a time where refuge and routine took precedent. It’s a charming vignette of Atwell’s life with her partner; a relationship that provided “some sort of permission to recuperate from family trauma”. It lays the groundwork for the ensuing exploration of what drives us to seek comfort, and what drives us away from it.

This is perhaps most evident in her referencing Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway in the line, “It’s the laughter, it’s the plunge”. That scene – where the title character looks out at a peaceful view and is suddenly overwhelmed by dread that something terrible is about to happen – encapsulates what Atwell is trying to understand through her music.

DJ Seinfeld
at The Caves

new date
Final 50 tickets on sale now

November 19th, 2021

Sneaky Pete’s presents…

Although he’s Swedish-born, DJ Seinfeld began his music career making music and partying in Edinburgh, so it’s a treat to see him back.

Sneaks hosted his absurdly good DJ Kicks Compilation launch, which sold out way too fast, so this time round we’ve hired the only bigger venue where we know we can get a real vibe.

We’re bringing lights and a D&B soundsystem again, so expect a sharp production in this home away from home.

FUR + Honey Moon
Sold Out

November 18th, 2021

Unexpected viral stars FUR are “getting that balance where it doesn’t sound like a band from the ‘60s, it sounds like if a ’60s band were doing something modern. For some reason, even when we’d only written two songs, we already knew what FUR sounded like.” Without a label or famous friends, they’ve racked up millions of streams just by taking the age old love song and reinvigorating it, earning them critical plaudits from tastemakers such as Steve Lamacq and surprise fan Hugh Jackman. Their last show here sold out and since then they have supported Miles Kane and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Emma Stevens

November 17th, 2021

Bringing a refreshing glimmer of hope and an abundance of heart and positivity, British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Emma Stevens’ music breathes life and honesty. Emma connected with the guitar at the age of two, (and won’t be seen on stage without it!) and has gone on to learn bass, cello, piano, banjo, ukulele and mandolin. She has achieved four consecutive play-listed singles on BBC Radio 2, extensive international radio play in the UK, Europe and Australia, an iTunes single of the week with her song Riptide, sold out headline shows and supported The FeelingTake ThatWet Wet WetSophie Ellis-BextorTrain and Simply Red to name a few! Emma’s music has been used on many TV shows on BBC, ITV, Sky and Channel 4, and even featured on a TV show in China which was broadcast to 75 million people, gaining her over 500 million streams on a Chinese streaming site!

Since losing her Mum to cancer in 2012, Emma has dedicated her life to her music, writing messages of positivity, hope and love, and is re-establishing a lyrical connection with her audience – something seemingly so absent from an overcrowded marketplace, and in the process capturing a sound so unique, it’s purity inescapable.

Chameleon Lady + Luke Hunter + Jordan Phillips

November 16th, 2021

Chameleon Lady are back after a long time away due to Covid. They have been working tirelessly to bring you a brand new, electric show that is sure to leave you wanting more. There will be brand new music plus all the old songs you love. This is a performance not to be missed. Plus there will be amazing support from the wonderful Luke Hunter and fabulous Jordan Phillips.

The nucleus of Chameleon Lady came together at school in Musselburgh four years ago, and after an apprenticeship served busking folk songs and pop music, they set about developing their writing and production skills in pursuit of a unique sound and style. The band’s first song (Home, The Highlands) quickly and unexpectedly became a Scottish festival anthem with a debut video to match, taking them to festivals in Scotland and France. An EP entitled Calling Card was then released to promote their first gigs on the Scottish circuit. The band spent the last eighteen months experimenting, writing and recording in the confines of their home studios. And now, four university degrees, fifty gigs and several costume changes later, Chameleon Ladyhave a new energy in the shape of an album of brand new songs freshly recorded, and a stage show ready to hit the road.
