Aquelarre – Alicia Carrera (LíO Press) + Pako Vega (Sounds Of Ogigia)

July 15th, 2022

Aquelarre is back for the summer edition with the sonic enchantress Alicia Carrera who will make her Scottish ??????? debut on the 15th of July.

Originally hailing from Galicia, Berlin based Alicia Carrera is a graphic artist and music explorer. Her vision has been cultivated in smoky bars, second-hand buckets and underground publications. Perhaps those could be the reasons why her sets always escape from a common place. Her obsessions drive towards the leftfield side of electronic music, experimental, dub and psychedelia.

Always in the search of new sounds and perceiving the music as a way of self-emancipation, her sonic approach has no boundaries. Alicia is the founder of the platform LíO Press and co-founder of Maga Circe Musica, infamous Sameheads resident in Berlin with the Horrorscope nights, and she also co-organizes Curva imposible events in Barcelona, dedicated to unusual sounds in unique spaces.

Pako Vega, Aquelarre resident and head of the mysterious label Sounds Of Ogigia, will be warming up the night with his whimsical selection of unearthly sounds on another night for curious minds.

Samuel Nicholson + Neev + Frankie Morrow

July 12th, 2022

Samuel is an Edinburgh-born, London-based Indie Rock frontman and writer. His first album “If You Be My” (2015) offered reflection on masculine vulnerability and love. His debut single, “Ballroom”, enjoyed the attention of KCRW’s Jason Kramer on his weekly radio show in the US. His sophomore LP, “Missing Persons Report” (Nov 2020) offered a fuller sound with newfound collaborator and producer, Caradog Jones and has received favourable online reviews and distribution by Mahogany. 2022 has begun with a sold-out full band show at The Old Blue Last and promises a busy live schedule with his third LP, Birthday Suit due for release in 2022.

The subtleties in this track are simply stellar, accompany that with a well-paced flow and an exceptionally pleasing layered kaleidoscope of guitars and you have a lovely recipe for success.” – Jonah Holiday, IMR

With love from KCRW already in the bag it won’t be long until more people fall in love with Samuel Nicholson’s works of art.” – It’s All Indie

“We are in love with Samuel Nicholson’s vocal tone and nuances. This is the kind of voice that makes a song stand out both as a story and in power. “ – Where The Music Meets
