Cowboy Hunters

November 26th, 2023

This visceral Edinburgh-based outfit is drawing upon it’s brooding sonic accompaniments, surrealistic storytelling and it’s cathartic exploration of noise to create a spectacle.

Their debut single ‘Red Spy’ (May, 2023) navigates themes such as obsession, paranoia, drug abuse, lust, loneliness, death and Cold War spies in East Berlin.

“She is everywhere…”

Their follow up single ‘Scarlett’ (September, 2023) is out now.

Lionoil:
Ninth Birthday

November 24th, 2023

Lionoil is 9 years old, can you believe it!

9 years ago, we welcomed Aussie label UNTZZ into the Wee Red Bar for a secret dance. Then DJ Yves hosted experimental gatherings upstairs in the Mash House. Bake and Telfort tore the attic apart. We released 8 records, one cassette and a dubplate. We welcomed legendary performances from Soichi Terada, Lena Willikens, Eris Drew, Violet, Move D, Bradley Zero among others. And we move…

For this monumentous novennial celebration, we’re going back to basics with a rare all night back to back from Privet and Percy Main – two of Sneaky Pete’s most seasoned veteran residents. Expect heaters, sweaters, jumpers and movers from open to close.

SCALER (fka Scalping)
Nukuluk
for fans of… Daniel Avery, Mandy Indiana, TVAM, Grove

November 24th, 2023

Based in Bristol, UK, SCALER (fka SCALPING) are a four-piece band: Isaac Jones on drums, James Rushforth on bass guitar, Nick Berthoud on guitar and Alex Hill on electronics. For the last five years, SCALPING have been writing, recording and performing music together, trying to answer the question that guides their work; “How can a band bridge the gap between live guitar music and live electronic music?”

The new single “LOAM” marks a new chapter for SCALER. Having connected with one another following the release of their highly praised 2022 debut album “Void”, the band’s collaboration with Daniel Avery sees the band lean further into their club and dance-based influences. Combining adrenaline fuelled rhythms with euphoric synths that ebb and flow around their heavier sensibilities.

Speaking on the single, SCALER says “When the opportunity to work with Daniel Avery came up we obviously jumped at it; we’ve been fans of his for a long time and working on these tracks with him really helped us be more decisive, to trust our gut and not overcomplicate things.”

MARGINS:
Jaguar

November 23rd, 2023

This November, the one and only Jaguar joins the MARGINS crew for another night in the sweatbox.

DJ, journalist and radio extraordinaire Jaguar needs no introduction. She’s a BBC radio staple having hosted shows on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra as well as her infamous BBC Introducing Dance show where she spotlights new artists and minority voices within electronic music (earning her the 2021 Mixmag Broadcaster of the Year award). Alongside presenting, Jaguar hosts UTOPIA parties – a one of a kind rave bringing the some of the most exciting up and coming names to nights across the UK and abroad with the UTOPIA Ibiza residency this summer. In 2020 she launched her project The Jaguar Foundation which released the first report of its kind on the state of gender equality in UK dance music, highlighting the disparity that exists within the scene. Additionally the foundations’s project Future1000 brought free, DJ, production and leadership programmes to female, trans and non-binary students aged 12-18 across the UK.

Jaguar’s talents are limitless and her mixing is entrancing – expect a night of electrifying dance music sprinkled with her signature sound of genre-less, bubbly feel-good tunes.

On support we’ve got noodle and Daksh!

GRDN DJ, EHFM resident & Subterranean Sound curator, noodle promises a genre-bending wormhole of percussive, twangy and leftfield music. She is constantly digging the internet for new sounds that feed her love for 90s trance, chuggy electro and weirdo bass.

Head honcho of the new monthly Membrane parties at Sneaks, Daksh has been playing gigs up and down Cowgate for the past year – we can’t wait to have him start off the night for you all!!

MARGINS is a club night created for folk from marginalised communities. This is a space where people can get together, dance, and feel safe and accepted – no matter their race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religion.

Please read the MARGINS policy post on instagram (@margins.night) before coming to the night and treat others with respect.

Snake Eyes
Shredd
for fans of… Demob Happy, Dead Pony, Weezer

November 23rd, 2023

2023 has been quite the year for Brighton’s Snake Eyes: Heading out on their first ever headline tour to packed and sold out rooms across the UK, releasing the ‘health’ ep via alcopop! records and boasting a chaotic festival season including sets at Truck, Ynot, Leopallooza, Teddy Rocks, Tiffcuff, Left of the Dial and 4 performances at The Great Escape.

Backed by everyone from Radio 1 to Radio X, Clash Magazine to Fred Perry, the Marshall Live represented trio, now complete with Gaby Monaghan on bass (Pet Semetary), are back with slamming new single ‘lean’, co-produced and mixed by Josh Harrison (Royal Blood, Snayx, Sea Power)and set for release on September 12th via alcopop!, the band are ready to smash back to back tours across the UK and Europe to see out the year.

“they’ve got a cool 90’s slacker vibe which i really love”-Amy Lamé, BBC Radio 6

“combining wonderfully anthemic grunge energy with sticky melodies to create cracking modern british rock”- Rock Sound

“blurring the edges between noise rock and more straight-forwardly melodic indie rock”- Clash

“there’s a simplicity to what they do–making snotty, scrappy, guy-and-girl-next-door punk with big fat riffs–but theirs is a case where simple is effective”- Kerrang!

Snake Eyes call it grit pop.
