Lydia Bennett, Edinburgh based, Newcastle and New Zealand raised singer songwriter has announced her debut album Fossil, celebrating its release at Sneaky Pete’s June 23rd 2024. Playing with guitarist (Thomas Guerneve), accordionist (Jim Hawker), Double bassist (Al James) and Drummer (Tim Jacob-Owens).

Opening the night are special guests Àirdan – an exciting trad band born from the pubs of Edinburgh. Renowned as one of the most knowledgeable record dealers in the UK, Zaf has left an indelible mark on the music scene. As co-owner of LoveVinyl in Shoreditch, Zaf has established the store as a key music hub for DJs, producers, and collectors alike.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, LoveVinyl stands as a testament to Zaf’s enduring passion for music. Zaf’s career in themusic industry began in 1988 at Reckless Records, a much-revered institution in London’s Soho district which he went on to
co-own and manage until 2006.

As well as this, Zaf’s expertise and dedication have led him to various music ventures over the years, including compiling acclaimed compilations such as the P&P series on Sussd Records and the Deep Disco Culture series.

His contributions extend to reissues and edits, with notable releases including “China Burton/Razzmatazz” and “Roy Ayers/Cash 12″” on Kindred Spirits, as well as the Deep Disco & Boogie CD. Zaf’s involvement with the BBE label yielded critically acclaimed projects like “Americana” and “Private Wax,” showcasing his vast knowledge of music history. Zaf’s passion for curating and producing music is also evident in his collaborations with Phil Asher and Restless Soul, with whom he has released multiple acclaimed tracks.

In addition to his work behind the scenes, Zaf’s DJ sets have captivated audiences at esteemed events like Southport Weekender 49 and Sunsplash Festival in Turkey, where he was a resident DJ. His residency at We Out Here and consecutive appearances at Sète’s Worldwide Festival – both of which are headed by Gilles Peterson – only add to his Djaying prowess. An integral part of Zaf’s influence extends beyond the stage and studio. His appearances in the Boiler Room Collection Series and his residency at the We Out Here Festival are testaments to his enduring impact on the global music scene.

With a career spanning decades and a far-reaching reputation for his incredible musical knowledge, Zaf continues to inspire and uplift music lovers with his unparalleled passion for vinyl culture.

Kicking off the summer in style, Edinburgh Disco Lovers bring The Nightlark to Sneaky Pete’s.

Humbly describing themselves as an avid collector of disco, funk, soul and balearic sounds, The Nightlark is co-founder of Pure Mana and A&R for Paradise Palms Records, and has an impressive resumé of booking and playing alongside legends such as Candi Staton, Odyssey, Norman Jay, Giles Peterson and Madlib.

Raising money for LGBT Youth Scotland

James Hargreaves runs ‘James Hargreaves Guitar’, one of the biggest British indie YouTube channels in the world with over 50,000 subscribers and over 12 million views. He and his band perform a wide selection of classic British indie classics including Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene, The Verve, The Zutons & many more. They have also seen their original material enter the UK charts twice with their two singles so far, both of which entered the UK top 10 in the physical singles charts, the first at #7 and the second at #2. June 2024 will see them perform in Scotland for the first time at Sneaky Pete’s!

Heading up our third party of 2024, we welcome Gourlay, a seasoned electro and techno DJ/producer from Glasgow.

Gourlay has made a significant impact on the global music scene by founding Modula Records in London and releasing a string of EPs, earning him a reputation as a formidable talent. With performances at esteemed venues across Europe and South America, Gourlay continues to rise as an artist and we look forward to welcoming him for Sneaky Pete’s debut.

The legendary Leeds-based COSMIC SLOP Party residents make their Scotland Debut as part of their own MAP Charity fundraiser for the Big Green’s 2nd birthday.

Hosting parties with the likes of Floating Points, Mr Scruff, Daphni and many more, there isn’t a genre of dance music that you won’t hear on a cosmic slop dancefloor!

About MAP Charity:

“MAP Charity is an alternative education provider working with young people who are unable to access the mainstream school system… MAP (Music & Arts Production) Charity offers BTEC qualifications in Creative Media and Art & Design, alongside Maths and English, to 11-16 year olds. Our education provision is positioned alongside the charity’s work with businesses and creative partners: from screen printing firms to musicians, we offer space and support, and in return they provide our students with teaching sessions, tangible examples, and the opportunity to apply the skills they have learnt in real working environments. We have trialled and will soon add apprenticeships for over 16s, extending our support to young people beyond the existing education programme. All of this is delivered at the historic Hope Foundry, nurturing the next generation of creative professionals.”

When Chai Met Toast is a pop band from India. The quartet came into being with their debut EP ‘Joy of Little Things’ in 2017. Over the next year, they crafted their sophomore offering ‘Believe’, establishing them as genre pioneers in the country. The band’s first full length album ‘When We Feel Young’ (2021) propelled their worldwide listener base.

WCMT’s sound can be best described as a mix of indie folk and alternative rock. Their live performances have attracted audiences globally, with performances headlining numerous Indian festivals, sets at the Singapore Grand Prix 2022, Expo 2020 Dubai, and sold out tours across the UK and US.

The band’s latest is their third EP ‘LYTS’, recorded in London with producer Richard Wilkinson. “We are exploring new territories with our music now, and in the seven years we’ve been a band together, we’ve sort of come to learn a lot about each other. At the heart of it, we’re four brown boys trying to spread our little personal stories to the world with our music. The LYTS EP talks about love and heartbreak.”

When Chai Met Toast consists of Ashwin Gopakumar, Achyuth Jaigopal, Palee Francis and Pai Sailesh, who met in the music circles of Kerala.
