London instrumental quartet Dog Unit’s reverb-drenched post-rock and electronica leans just as heavily on the tune-first, purist pop qualities of Burt Bacharach or The Strokes as much as it does the groove and ambiance of their post-rock forebears like Tortoise or Stereolab.

Championed from the outset by the likes of Steve Lamacq on 6Music and John Kennedy on RadioX, Dog Unit’s forthcoming second album Runners was made over the first four months of 2026 at the band’s studio in Limehouse, East London, and saw them work alongside producer Mark Estall, as well as a string quartet and reappointed experimental bass clarinetist Heather Roche.

“A different type of musical texture, and a very pretty and moving thing it is too” – Steve Lamacq, BBC 6Music

“Propulsive and mesmerising… makes you wish more bands explored music without vocals” – Dan Cairns, The Sunday Times
