Concrete Vehicles
for fans of… Black Country, New Road, Geese, Squid, Protomartyr
Concrete Vehicles are a seven-piece from Vancouver, British Columbia, and one of the most thrillingly chaotic propositions in contemporary Canadian rock. They began as a recording project between lifelong friends Hudson Schelesny and Ben Lock, two people making music too sprawling and complex to contain, let alone perform live. So they didn’t try to contain it. They expanded.
What is now a fully formed seven-piece; guitars, saxophone, synths, percussion, voices. Concrete Vehicles have built a sound that embraces rather than resolves its own contradictions. Songs shift and mutate across their runtime, driven by the improvisational energy of the live show and a collective refusal to settle for the obvious arrangement. The goal, as they’ve put it, is music that is visual and cathartic — that holds your attention for the full duration and earns it.
