Makk
Makk are a Yorkshire based cinematic alt folk band creating immersive, emotionally charged music that moves between fragile intimacy and widescreen intensity.
Formed around the songwriting of David Mills McEvoy, the band operates as a tightly woven collective. David’s finger picked guitar and understated vocal delivery sit at the centre, but the sound expands through the distinctive interplay of Harry Stobart’s dynamic percussion, David Bullock’s ambient bass textures, Dexter Duffy Howard’s expressive violin phrasing, and Lilla Hall’s synth and keys work which adds depth, atmosphere and subtle tension throughout.
Together Makk build songs patiently. Acoustic foundations give way to swelling strings, modular textures and carefully shaped dynamics, creating arrangements that feel less like traditional folk songs and more like unfolding scenes.
Their EP Overlook explores memory, isolation and emotional recursion, with each member shaping the sonic landscape as much as the narrative. On record the music breathes, live it expands, shifting from near silence to engulfing full band moments that hold rooms completely still.
With sold out headline shows across Yorkshire and growing national momentum, Makk are establishing themselves not as a solo artist with backing musicians, but as a band defined by atmosphere, restraint and collective intent.
