Edinburgh Disco Lovers’ residents return for Friday Night Fever, raising money for Four Square, an Edinburgh charity that supports people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Brand new resident Panooc will be headlining the show, supported by veteran Disco Lovers Faisal Sabawi, Lobos & Fraser.

Employing over 80 staff at 7 locations across the city Four Square provides support; advice; accommodation; and learning and training opportunities. They also run one of Scotland’s largest social enterprises, Edinburgh Furniture Initiative, where they re-sell donated furniture to support their work.

Snarling vocals over feral guitar riffs, backed by pounding drums and bass – Scottish garage punk three-piece Casual Drag have earned a reputation as a must-see live band through a series of packed and frenetic shows across their homeland.

Their standout brand of clattering garage-rock has led to support slots with Joe Talbot of IDLES, Lice, Flat Worms, Gaygirl, MEMES and Press Club.

Singles ‘Bleach Head’ and ‘Johnny’ were championed by BBC Introducing, BBC6 Music and Amazing Radio.

A first festival slot this summer followed, opening for Warmduscher at this year’s Hidden Door arts festival in Edinburgh

Having played to packed and feverish crowds across Scotland – the band will take their live show to the rest of the UK in 2023 as their debut EP is released.

This month Volens Chorus welcome their brand new resident Lara Sinclair to the cult and what better way to indoctrinate her than to set her loose in a B2B with Volens Chorus day 1 and master of all things fast and hard, DV60. Their styles may differ in some ways but their love for Hardcore, Jungle and Breaks will prevail in what is being tipped as “The greatest set Sneaky Pete’s has seen since the last Volens Chorus”.

On warmsing duties is none other than Lara’s man and Cowgate legend JI_2001 going B2B with Volens Chorus head honcho (and terrible DJ) Quarterpoundernocheese.

This will be a big sweaty family affair and one not to miss, expect Jungle, Hardcore, Jersey Club, Grime and Baile.

A London-based DJ, Taylah Elaine’s credible genre-mashing and unique style are setting her apart in the UK and internationally.

Her appearance at Boiler Room Festival: Rap Fantasy, got over 500k views within just five days, with clips going viral.

Taylah’s dynamic stage presence has led her to perform at prestigious festivals like Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Rock Werchter, Rolling Loud, The Warehouse Project, Reading And Leeds Festival, Wireless, Boiler Room Festival, Boomtown Festival, Moga Festival, Strawberries & Creem, Maiden Voyage, the resident DJ for Spotify at Cannes Lion Festival and played at The Weeknd official After Party alongside Kaytranada at Koko London. During the pandemic, she launched her radio station, providing a platform for new and emerging DJs from around the world to showcase their talent during lockdowns while continuing to energise listeners with her own sets.

Mally Smith is a singer-songwriter from Boston, now living in Edinburgh. Mally’s childhood love of melancholy ballads of the British Isles and the political songs of the American folk-revival fuel her thoughtful and beautifully honest songwriting. Reminiscent of Shawn Colvin, Aoife O’Donovan, and a young Joni Mitchell, Mally combines tasteful guitar and poetic lyrics with a clear voice that will capture your heart. Mally’s forthcoming single “The Dark” hits all streaming platforms this autumn.

Brooklyn-by-Belgium vocalist Charlotte Jacobs transposes her world into music. Sights, movements, sounds and places coalesce, reflecting the artist’s surroundings in lush electronic unison. Born and raised in her parents’ art gallery in a small village in the Flanders countryside, Jacobs’ dense avant-pop arrangements pull influence from visual art, poetry and contemporary dance, converting one artistic medium into another. Her latest EP “The Shape of Wandering” was called “a sonic adventure” (NPR Music), “A musical headfake” (WNYC) and “a book of shadows” (Atwood Magazine).

Joanna Schubert, the Brooklyn-based singer/keyboardist/composer/arranger behind Oropendola, creates kaleidoscopic chamber pop filled to the brim with energy and emotion. Her debut full-length album, Waiting for the Sky to Speak – recorded with Zubin Hensler – was released in March 2023 with Spirit House Records and Wilbur & Moore Records. Her music has been called “expansive and colorful” (Under the Radar Mag), “lovely, ethereal dream pop” (Brooklyn Vegan), and “at the meeting point between arms in the air pop perfection and something altogether more jarring and intriguing” (For the Rabbits). Joanna has also been a touring member of both Half Waif and Barrie, and sung with Grammy-nominated Gnawa musician Samir Langus.
