Miss World: Panooc

December 3rd, 2021

Panooc, largely based in NYC for the last few years, landed back in their home country of Scotland during the pandemic and has only recently been able to unleash their powerful selections on UK dancefloors.Member of event producers and collective XOXA, Panooc has been running nights locally and internationally for many years, and has DJed at world renowned clubs from Panther Room, Black Flamingo and House of Yes in New York, to Tresor in Berlin. Coming from a jazz background, studying saxophone and composition, Panooc has been known to incorporate this into their DJ sets, and has had a huge influence on their music production. Releasing on labels such as Sorry Records (including a remix from Fatherhood), Good Company Records, Nite Grooves and .WAVCAVE, their thumping, funky house and techno beats sprinkled with euphoric chords and pleasingly glitchy samples is impossible not to move to!

Posable Action Figures

December 2nd, 2021

Posable Action Figures are a nightmare to categorise… Fronted by Gareth Goodlad and reared by Kyle Grieve on the drums. The duo have recently released their debut album ‘It Is What It Is’.

The album is an extroverted introverts’ explosive take on break-ups, make-ups, new relationships and all the anxiety that induces, with some cool drumming in the background. It might just be the sh*t.

Their first single, ‘Inhaler’ received airplay from around the globe and their most recent single ‘Laura’ was released during lockdown, so, well, not much really happened. The last couple of years have seen the band play festivals across the UK, and play live in session on BBC Radio.

Their immediate and spontaneous sound draws its influence from artists like Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Ink Spots.

Quiet Houses

December 1st, 2021

Quiet Houses are an Edinburgh born and Manchester based indie-folk duo made up of Hannah Elliott) and Jamie Stewart. After forming in early 2018, the pair started writing songs rooted in the wistful folk sound-world of Laura Marling and Belle & Sebastian and the quirky lyricism of indie songwriters Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile. Since releasing their debut EP ‘Armchair Tree’ in May 2019  the duo have been championed by Ryan Paul (BBC Introducing Manchester), Shell Zenner (Amazing Radio) Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music) and BBC Introducing Scotland. Their next EP ‘Big Town’ is set for release in November 2021.
