Pinact, Tongue Trap, Shredd

February 28th, 2017

As a warm-up to appearing at this year’s South By Southwest Festival, Pinact play a special show at Sneaky Pete’s.

A lot of bands are compared to the likes of Sonic Youth, Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr., but very few are capable of living up to the billing. Enter Pinact, whom has harnessed the spirit of Glasgow’s music scene incredibly. The trio combines experimental, turn-it-up-to-11 guitar sounds with outstanding melodic awareness. Imagine if you will, Lou Barlow having the guitar sound of Lee Ranaldo. Imagine if The Vaselines listened to Lightning Bolt. An intensely chaotic sound that wraps sheer pop song writing in Melvins-esque fuzz, a kiss and a punch.

Wille & The Bandits

February 25th, 2017

Essentially Wille and the Bandits is a classic blues rock three piece much in the vain of Cream or The Jimi Hendrix experience. But in a similar way to how these bands pushed the genre in their time, Wille and the Bandits try to take their sound beyond what is expected of such a traditional line up.

Melting Pot

February 24th, 2017

Melting Pot is the Glasgow based club night that’s one of the longest running in the UK, 16 years and counting in 2017, they celebrate their birthday this month.

Giving DJs such as Mr Scruff, Floating Points, Todd Terje, Danny Krivit, Joe Claussell, Francois K, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Dimitri From Paris, Frankie Knuckles and many more the opportunity to play whatever they feel: disco, house, techno, funk, soul and beyond.

They pay particular attention to their sound system which has made it one of the best sounding anywhere, with their guests raving about it. To get the full Melting Pot effect they’ll be bringing their own preamps, power conditioners, broadcast charges and other assorted hi-fi trickery to make Sneak’s brand new Condesa Rotary Mixer sing on the d&b soundsystem!

Youandewan (!K7 Records) at Juice

February 23rd, 2017

When a producer you love shows he can take it to the next level to become an album artist, it’s a blessing. In 2016 Youandewan made that jump with hot results.

His mad Hessel’y fast swinger ‘Pinger’, and slow bubbler ‘4D Anxiety’ were both included in XLR8R’s best tracks of 2016, but they were just a foreshadowing of the album ‘There Is No Right Time’, a dusty timeless affair that came 10th in Mixmags top 50 LP’s of 2016 and Red Bull’s 7th in their top 21.

Knowing how to make rooms shake underpins his DJ style, and the way he combines hard swung house grooves with clicks and pops is just dope.

Juice thing so: no door policy, everyone welcome, no photos, don’t trainspot tracks.

Redfaces

February 20th, 2017

In these dying days, as a brutal 2016 drags itself to a welcome end, guitars can seem rarer than hope.

RedFaces are rarer still – a brand new guitar band snapped up by a major label in open defiance of chart stats and marketing departments.

Newly signed to RCA and with a debut single – the incendiary ‘Kerosene’ – due on February 3, 2017, RedFaces are Harry Lyon, Isaac White, Charlie Yapp and Ryan Laycock. Four lads from Sheffield treading what was once a well-worn path, these days the road less travelled.
