“Sultry and smart indie pop, definitely not from France” – Jamie Hodgson (NME, Observer, Vice, Guardian)
“Just an amazing live session, most bands spend two weeks in the studio making sounds like that, the extraordinary Masters in France, going from strength to strength, great live band!” – Tom Robinson (6 Music)
“This band is blowing up right now, not literally!” – Loz Guest (Kerrang! Radio)
“Kasabian swagger, they don’t take any nonsense” – Greg James (BBC Radio One)
“Ed Ellis Jones’ charismatic vocal delivery is soundly backed by riffs and pounding you would find merrily soundtracking a 12-hour amphetamine sex party. This is danceable, delicious and deadly stuff” – Minature Music Press

HIGH PLACES
(thrill jockey records)
Capitals
February 15th, 2012
High Places is Rob Barber and Mary Pearson. Throughout its nearly five years of existence, the band has traveled extensively and performed in a multitude of environments.
Whether performing at the Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan or in an industrial warehouse in Santiago, Chile, High Places’ enveloping sound and propulsive energy allow the music to translate to a variety of venues.
Visual art plays an important role in Mary and Rob’s collaboration. The two make video projections for their stage shows, keep a photo blog that documents their travels, hellohighplaces.blogspot.com, and create their own album artwork. In this way and others, Mary and Rob challenge the conventional parameters of a rock band and instead give us a multi-sensory aesthetic partnership that continually defies expectations.

“A loose combination of the quaint lyrical tone of Fionn Regan and charming scruffiness of Beirut’s instrumental arrangements, Stokes, William enjoy increasing success on the London, Cardiff and Bristol circuits. Nursed into the limelight via Communion, a London club night and label (coordinated by Mumford & Son’s Ben Lovett and producer Ian Grimble), the band has blossomed into a formidable six-piece folk armada.”
“With as much genius as Johnny Flynn… intelligent lyrics intertwined with intricate yet catchy melodies that you can’t help but play over and over.”
“It felt like a party on stage… A band for the people for sure, for the next generation of folkies.”
Night Music: SEPALCURE Late Live & AV Show
February 12th, 2012
Sepalcure’s combination of love for bass and 90s house acapellas is the culmination of a cathartic two week collaboration between Travis Stewart (Machinedrum) and Praveen Sharma (Praveen & Benoît). Their mix of tribal dub, house and two step beats works equally well for both late nights in the club and rainy, introspective nights at home. Detroit techno chords cut through wooden beats, neon synths and dubbed out atmospherics.
