Luke Carey, Hugh Kelly
“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them” …others, however, take a look at a top selling artist at the age of 17, think ‘I could do that’, pick up a guitar for the first time and within 3 years end up meeting said artist and having their debut EP reach the Top 10 in the iTunes chart.
Luke Carey is that guy. Shaping his own success with grit, determination and just a pinch of cockiness he set himself up to fail, but instead he is flying…
Luke is still developing his style and influences and isn’t scared to say he is being shaped by those he has met along his musical journey to date. And what a journey it’s been.
Born into a large Irish family in London, music was never a family trait for 21 year old Luke Carey. He’s a latecomer to music as a listener and performer, but boy has he caught up quickly!
A firm believer in the 10,000 hour rule, last year he set himself the challenge of playing 100 gigs in 100 days which proved a huge success and is one of the reasons he credits for making the Top 10 of the iTunes chart without a hint of PR.
Now a singer-songwriter with a genuine attention to the craft, in 2015 Luke won the Unsigned Stars Competition, a feat held previously by Stormzy, and will embark upon a U.K Tour in October to coincide with the release of his second EP.
