Take elements of Hip Hop, Grime, Jungle, Dancehall, Ska and Reggae, add conscious lyrics, big bass lines and a big dose of carnival and you start to get close to describing the Capitol 1212 Sound.

Capitol 1212 are Professa Fresh and Fly T, two Edinburgh based Dj’s/producers, who met when Djing and running independent club nights in the capitol and started making records together in ’07. Since then they have been busy releasing various singles and EP’s, working with labels such as Big toes HiFi, Run Tingz recordings and their own label 1212 Records. Grabbing people’s attention with now sought after pieces of vinyl like the “Raw and Disorder EP”, songs such as the summer Hip Hop anthem “Good Feelin” and reggae dance floor thumper “Don man Sound“, their singles have been play listed on MTV and regularly played on various Radio 1 shows, even featuring on professional skateboard DVDs and being used as entrance music for UFC fighters.

Far from being studio hermits, they have taken the sound on the road with their Dj and live sets, from playing festivals like Soundwave in Europe and Boomtown Fair to rockin radio shows in the South Bronx the main objective is always to make you feel like you’re at carnival . Having shared the stage with artists such as Wu Tang Clan, Congo Natty, Grandmaster Flash, Prince Buster, Lee Scratch Perry, Guru and Max Romeo to name a few, the pair are in demand for their production and remix skills, writing original songs with a range of stellar artists including Million Dan, Tenor Fly, Jungle Brothers, Gappy Ranks, EDO G, Grandmaster Caz and Daddy Freddy. After years of honing their craft behind the mixing desk, all of their influences came together in a mashup of Hip Hop, Reggae, Jungle and soundsystem carnival vibes for their first LP. “The Return Of Rudy Nacho” dropped on the label Irish Moss Records, going straight to the top of sales charts in various shops across the world such as Juno records it was embraced by fans, Dj’s and critics alike. The chaos continued with various sold out shows promoting the release including TV appearances and headline slots at festivals such as Electric Picnic. Since the album there has been noise coming from the guys from way deep inside the 1212 dungeons including solo drum and bass project “Ekwols” and the bass heavy “Razor Gully” single. Now it is time for the lads to venture back in to the studio to bring some new 1212 sounds for 2016
