CALL TO MIND + Iain McLaughlin and The Outsiders

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

“Atmospheric and somewhat dramatic, this British band fills out the Britpop sound. Yes, they sound a little like early Radiohead, maybe Doves, but there’s a heavier, moodier element.” (Iceland Airwaves)
“For such a determined band of musical purists, the future is clearly going to be polarised. Call To Mind will either remain a cultish, underground concern, or will inspire a Mogwai-esque religious devotion. Whichever way it goes though, it’s refreshing to see that bands like Call To Mind still have the bravery and patience to offer up such restrained and thoughtful music in a climate where the medium is becoming defined by its immediacy and disposability.” (The Fly)
“Sonically mind-blowing” (Tim Burgess)

ANDREW VINCENT + Sebastian Dangerfield + Andrew Marini

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Andrew Vincent celebrates the release of his new album ‘Rotten Pear’ with his first tour of the UK.

“Like good old-fashioned Canadian handicraft—handmade, heartfelt and even naive—Andrew Vincent’s songs are pure heart-on-sleeve nuggets that always manage to nestle their way into the cozy corners of our minds. His knack for churning out memorable melodies and turns of phrase never ceases to amaze, and here on his fifth album Rotten Pear, AV offers up some of his most painfully honest slices of song to date. ”
From kelprecords.com.

“one of Canada’s greatest singer-songwriters.” – CBC

“Andrew Vincent, it seems, demands to be added to the ever-lengthening list of promising Canadian talent threatening to push the floodgates wide open.” – Whisperin’ and Hollerin’

‘Rotten Pear’ is out now on Kelp Records and is distributed by Rough Trade.

Support comes from the popular coutry/indie outfit Sebastian Dangerfield and the compelling Glaswegian folkster Andrea Marini.

>> LACH ON MYSPACE <<

“Lach is the mastermind of Antifolk, like a Lower East Side rendezvous of Bob Dylan and Patti Smith. Like black snow, stalled subway cars and random violence, Lach is a Manhattan institution.”- NY Times
“Lach is so what the East Village used to be all about. He’s a gruff?and-tough punk turned poet with a heart o’gold singing jangly, funny, pop?punk songs.”-TimeoutNY

“Think battered acoustic thrashings, think sarky, smart-mouthed wit and wisdom but most importantly think Lach. Lach is rarely less than a face-ache funny, beat-punk-unplugged joy, and likely to send you home with several favourite new songs”- The Guardian UK

“Lach is a star! -NME

“A wholly enjoyable voyage into a strange and brilliant musical mind!”- Billboard

“NYC’s living legend, riotously catchy!”-Timeout London

“Speed assaults and whimsy. Recommended!”-Uncut

“4 Stars! Splendid! Best of it’s kind!”- Mojo

COMANECHI + DIVORCE + Your Loyal Subjects

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

l_9651e60398f5cf653091caf0cf1e7aa1“Filthy duo’s long-awaited debut brings salacious and mesmerising thrills aplenty… a sound akin to Frankenstein’s monster getting his thousand-volt wakeup call… Detuned Sabbath riffs pile relentlessly over glitching screams reminiscent of a scrambles SOS call from a plummeting aeroplane… and that’s just the first 30 seconds.” - 9/10 – NME

Comanechi have for four years been amongst underground London’s most terrifyingly excellent acts. Astounding drummer/singer Akiko Matsuura has finally found time to commit to tape their opus ‘Crime Of Love’, in between bouts as frontwoman for PRE and drummer for The Big Pink.

They’ve won fans among the most talented cognescenti, having played shows with Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Gossip (whose awesome sticksmith Hannah Blilie features on the album).

Divorce are the greatest mostly-female hardcore band of all time, or at the very least the most astounding band in Glasgow right now.

Your Loyal Subjects a two pieces of frenetic proto-thrash that could topple walls with a look.
